Oil blowing through breather
I just got done driving my accord, and it started smelling like I was burning oil, I popped the hood and a bunch of oil had sprayed out of my breather filter. I have never taken the car to redline since boosted and after I did it did this ??? I am running half synthetic 10w 40 oil, I don't know if this could cause it, I don't think I blew the rings becuase it still pulls really hard. any thoughts?

Re: Oil blowing through breather
rings are fried.

Re: Oil blowing through breather
---- :( less than 1,000 miles boosted too, I'll do a compression test and see what happens. The car does have about 157,000 miles on it, I just figured maybe it could be from my gude cam, or a small amount of blowby, but I'll see if I can drive it till winter and than swap, its been in the garage more than its been driven this summer. Plus it only does it when driven hard and I hit full boost by 3000rpm and it does'nt do it then only at high revs.(red line)

Re: Oil blowing through breather
you're cams aren't to blame, there is a bunch of stuff in the top of the valve cover to keep oil in, your problem is massive blowby, I had the same problem.

N00b alert!!! Blowby is caused by a bad head gasket though not owned ringlands correct? SkinnyE, aren't you only on a basemap too? JP |

Re: Oil blowing through breather
Yes I'm running on a basemap, I looked at it closely and it is smoking so the rings are pretty much toast, I'm assuming.I checked the pcv valve and it was clogged, I unclogged it and it did'nt help any. I can still drive it but I don't plan too since I have another car and I don't want to get stranded somewhere. Yes I am a noob at the turbo stuff since this is my first setup and for the next one I plan to do it right. Built motor, and big ass turbo. thanks for the help if it was'nt for someone else telling me it could be the rings I would still be in denial right now and putting oil in every 10 miles.

Re: Oil blowing through breather
So, want to sell your setup? :P

Re: Oil blowing through breather
Most of it yes, I want a bigger turbo, and manifold. I have an extra unchipped P06 as well, my turbo, manifold, intercooler, fan that cooled the intercooler, charge piping, bov and couplers might be going up on ebay very soon. I think I leaned out the engine since I blew the rings the first night I ever took it up to redline since boost.

Sorry, what I meant was be prepared for my dumb question so it was n00b alert so I wouldn't get flamed. I was unsure and just wanted to know for sure so I put the n00b alert out so people would know I DIDN'T know. Oh yea, as Fook would say "Be observant owns you", Kyle cleared it up. Thanks Kyle. JP |
