Default OH MY GOD...BOUT CREAMED MYSELF CAUSE OF BOOST!!!

lol...well...heres the story...i have an 89 prelude SI with the bastard b20a5 motor..i turbocharged it and here lately been having problems with going lean at 5psi and i have an FMU 12:1...turns out the fuel pump wasnt big enough so i slapped in my walbro 255 pump....wow did that make a difference...it fixed my lean problem and holy s#$t im not used to this power...that ------ car flys like a bird...im only running 10psi and that ----------er makes the tires slide til i get into 3rd gear....all thru 1st and 2nd gear i can hear them chirping along and once i hit 3rd the car is like none other...oh my heart is still beating fast and it was 45 minutes ago...i would be out on the town right now but im afraid of blowing up my motor....i really am....i only have an fmu...stock injectors...walbro pump for fuel and for timing i turned the distributor all the way back to the firewall...i was told that direction retards the ignition....i turned it all the way just to be safe...and i gapped new NGK spark plugs to .29 instead of the stock .44...now my only problem with the thing is the hard line that goes into the 14b turbo ...it has a tiny..i meen every so tiny pin leak...its like 1mm long and not even a hair wide...so it just spits a bit of oil on the center section of the turbo when under hard acceleration...im gonna have it welded up tomarrow so tonight im gonna take it easy and just stay home...i wanna drive it so bad since its friday night and find some v8's but im fighting the urge's...damn oil leak...its only minor but s#$t i dont wanna f*** it up.....im really afraid of blowing the b20a5 motor up with 10psi and not having a chipped ecu on it yet

is 10psi safe with the dist. turned all the way back towards the firewall and my spark plugs at .28 with the walbro pump and FMU....im not leaning out at all so i know the fmu is working but im worried about blowing it up...sorry for the newb question but seriously im not used to the new power...ive never had boost before and never had a car that went faster than low 15's so input is good

ok so i need to turn it all the way towards the radiator? cause im on preludepower.com forums and they told me the same too...i just wanted to confirm this because i dont wanna blow up my motor...i cant afford another bottom end just yet...i should go get a boost controller from my friend and turn it down to like 7 or 8psi to be safe....8 lbs is enough to walk all over a stock v8 anyways....

if you're getting contradictory opinions on which way to retard the ignition, go to the auto parts and check a helms
or haynes manual for your car. i think you should just retard it half way. oh, and get better fuel management just to be safe. i think 8 psi is ok aslong as you see 8psi in 4th and 5th on top end cause you will get more boost on higher gears. congratulations, you'll get used to the extra power in about 1 1/2 months. good call on replacing the fuel pump.

yes the fuel pump was the ringer that was causing me to go lean....its been confirmed that i need to turn my dizzy towards the radiator....oh god im glad i only made one pass in 1st and 2nd gear and then drove it home cause i could have blown my ---- up and that would be bad since i cant afford another motor just yet...i wanna build this block i have in my garage but on my salary its gonna take some time before i can get a bullet proof bottom end...yeah its prolly running 8psi at top end....i was only on 1st and 2nd gear and then let off...but god that ---- was great....i need another ciggarette just thinking about it...lol..

the timming will make a great difference in power too. i wouldn't turn it all the way towards the radiatior, just retard it 1/4 from where it was stock that will be plenty.
oh and no radio listenning, because you're gonna need to listen to any pinging. sounds of bbs' rattling in a can. if you don't hear them after you're driving hard after a full motor warm up then you're ok. just 8psi though.

You cant lower boost with a boost controller, only raise it next time write less so I can read it without my a.d.d. kicking in.
