Re: Official Offroad Thread
Do most theft recoveries around there happen in the woods? I'm thinking the bbka-mobile when I say that... coincidence?

sad state of affairs. |
Re: Official Offroad Thread
you may be surprised. i have seen countless abandoned/stolen vehicles in trail systems all over. sometimes its simply amazing where a car can go when you dont care about it.
|
Re: Official Offroad Thread
There are lots of people in the area that I grew up in that take their vehicles out in the woods and burn them then claim they were stolen to collect the insurance. All kinds of burnt out vehicles just sitting there.

get an old slopped out 4wd truck. 4x4 blocks under the leaf springs to lift it, and take it stomping.

Here is my beast, Maybe Urban Indian has some wheeling pics, I only seem to have parked in front of the hose pics:
Attachment 16831 Attachment 16832 Attachment 16833 As far as mods: -HX35 swapped in for a bit quicker spool, -Waste gate wired shut good for about 50psi -Fueling turned to 1/8" from runaway, but stock sticks -Timing pushed to the head -Stock 3.55 gearset -Welded diffs front and rear -Retread 40" Michelin military tires -No Lift, just cut out the front fenders a bit. Future plans, include softer springs all around with some airbags, for load, ride and flex. Getting that GT4294 that is collecting dust in the basement on for my primary & some big sticks to fuel it. Finally some bumpers with some big eye hooks for easier / better tow points. |
Re: Official Offroad Thread

my international weighs a half ton less, and isn't diesel. hooray for american craftsmanship

Re: Official Offroad Thread
my waggy handles out here well, just a little wide.
as far as leading the xj around, off road is like racing, i guess. you gotta take into account the driver skill, the capability of the rig (6" lift and big tires mean jack ----. that like some kid sayin " i got nos on my jdm kouki, touge racer") i got a buddy with a very midly modded xj (welded rear, 8" lift with shackes and coil spacers, no sway bars, and alot of beer) that leads rubicons around. here ya go this little p.o.s. XJ leads this front and rear locked 9"lifted tj around all day the xj http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...0dba0ecb92.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...09d1796d23.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...731d9fd371.jpg and the TJ http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...350r/vinny.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...50r/vinny2.jpg http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...50r/vinny3.jpg and the TJ on the XJ http://i82.photobucket.com/albums/j2...nyandjared.jpg |

Re: Official Offroad Thread
1974 K5 Blazer.
http://img108.imageshack.us/img108/2...bled001am6.jpg - 35x12.50-a5 Dunlop Mud Rover tires. - Rancho Cuchomonga 4" lift that came with it. - D44 up front and a 12 bolt in the rear. 3.40 gears with open diffs = ------- pathetic. - NP 205. I still have the NP 203 sitting around dreaming of building a doubler some day. - TH350. I have the conversion shaft for t TH700R4. That low first gear would be a welcome addition with the craptastic gears and the NP205's relatively high low range gear ratio. - Flat top piston 350 with crappy ass late 70s heads. It's a turd. - Oh yeah, lots of rust. :P |
Re: Official Offroad Thread
Alright, we need to get #1 MORE ACTION SHOTS up in this ----------er.
Also, we need CSaddict and Fook to post up... I know Dave has some excellent DIY fab and action pics squirrelled away, and last sighting of Fook he was full tilt into the offroad scene. I'll see if I can get those sweet pics of the truck Mike Belben built. |
Re: Official Offroad Thread
JD, send me some gas money and I'll get some ACTION PICS of the beast getting stuck.
;D |

mudhole stompin post-rain at some old railroad tracks when i get some new rings and a timing cover on it, i'm setting out to beat the ---- out of it. right now its pissing antifreeze into the oil, and its un-drivable. plus it needs bearings, and maybe an overbore. |

My 89 XJ
2" lift 31x10.5x15's Attachment 16588 Only wheelin pictures I have of it are when it was stock. Attachment 16589 Attachment 16590 I have a total of 500 bucks into this thing as it sits. I got the Jeep for 200 bucks, lifted it for 100 bucks, got the tires for free, 160 bucks for the wheels new from Summit, and some new brake rotors, because they were badly warped when I got it. I have had to tow out my buddy's 9" lifted 84 Chevy short box 4x4 with a powerful 350, lockers in the front and 1 wheel wondering in the back. He has 33x12.5x16's. I pull him out after I drive through where he gets stuck lol. |
