it does not include Ati X800 or nvidia 6800 series... but it will give you a good idea |
Re:off topic: graphics cards
i say whatever is cheaper. I have a Nvidia video card and have had it for like 4 years and no problems. It was really cheap too, like 60 bucks for a geforce 64 or 128 mb... I don't remember. I just have it, maybe when I reboot I'll get the specs for sure.

Re:off topic: graphics cards
I've had many of both and they are both great card manufacturers. Nvidia's driver support has always been better but ATI has improved greatly over the past 3 years.

Re:off topic: graphics cards
I always go to tomshardware.com to check computer stuff out.
I have owned nvidia cards only and have no problems with them. CSaddict is right, the nvidia driver support is much better overall, but ati is definitely making efforts to keep up. I know right now you can get a 5700 ultra for under 200 bucks if you are looking for power but not at top dollar. |
Re:off topic: graphics cards
nVidia hands down. i've have my Geforce 2MX 32mb for 4 years problem free.
that and the driver installation is idiot proof. |
Re:off topic: graphics cards
ive had an ati radeon for about 2 years no probs whats so ever, i use it to capture all my videos and to hook my pc to the big screen

Re:off topic: graphics cards
slash my other post about the 5700 ultra
Ati and Nvidia are releasing new cards that will retail for 200 bucks. It's the 6600gt and x700xt. Tomshardware has a 6600gt writeup now. http://graphics.tomshardware.com/gra...907/index.html http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=18474 |
Re:off topic: graphics cards
I already bought a nVidia 5500 overclocked 128 mb for $99. But there was an ATI card there too for the same price; it seemed to be comparable in speed/features. I was wondering if I should try out the ATI and return the nVidia.

Re:off topic: graphics cards
well both have pros cons, for money tho get a ti4200 , flash for it, overclock it to all hel and back. i did this with thermaltake fan upgrade and i can run doom3 fine farcry fine anything out today, and the card is older , like a few years. buy smart, 500$ for a g-card is gay. buy ati 9600 o/c it and walla bootleg 9800.
|
Re:off topic: graphics cards
I have the 9800 pro and it roxors runs doom3 and farcry like a champ and i can get 500-1000 fps on medal of honor my fav game.

Re:off topic: graphics cards
They both make good reliable cards.
My new notebook has an ATI 128mb Radeon 9700....definitely keeps up with any game I've played. Although my batter life on this notebook sucks lol but what could I expect. |
Re:off topic: graphics cards
from my experiance nVidia last longer, better drivers, better support, and is better. they have the fastest card on the market. Even though u may spend a bit more ($10-15) its welll worth it.

Re:off topic: graphics cards
Whichever one has the most colorful and pretty box. That's normally a good thing to go by when choosing video cards. But asking if Nvidia or ATI is better is kind of like asking if BMW or Mercedes is better. They're both pretty good.
