obd2 o2 sensors

i have a 96 cx and i heard that reversing the wires to the sensors and unpluggin one or something would get rid of my cel (no cat)...my other idea, since i cant afford a really big cat, was to split the exhaust and on one half have the stock little cat with the o2 on it....Sorry if this is a retard question but i dont want to try it and not have it work, and i have no cash for a simulator

do you think if i split the exhaust when i run it and have the o2 after the cat on one half it would work?...just a theoretical question
