NW Meet: Ronin's Turbo B18b EG Hatch
Well this install took place yesterday at my house, username: Ronin/Ecko1980 Mike J.. wanted to a turbo his EG Hatch w/ a B18b LS / GSR trans. I've known Mike a few years now and finally convinced him into turboing a honda.
https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...mikej/mike.jpg The car https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0089.JPG Working in a garage in the cold isnt exactly what I'm use to, but its the only way we can get "meets" together.. Can't really be busting out beers at my work and doing burnouts, but it worked out ok. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0090.JPG Brang the mig home from work, didnt know but my garage has 70amp service and Mikg G wired up 220. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0091.JPG The slut https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...mikej/mani.JPG The manifold, its from LSD Motorsports it looked pretty good, flanges were pretty thin... https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0093.JPG The Turbo 60/63 Mustang SVO T3. One of the largest factory turbos you can find on a mass produced car. It was very clean. Oil and Water Cooled. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0094.JPG Mike J flat-rating (coughbreaking) the oil feed line kit from Tunertoys/Stealthmode and Mike G stripping out bolts ;) https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0095.JPG JohnnyRacecar's oldschool 5in Intercooler https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0096.JPG ------ed with a radioshack switch and a sweet hose clamp. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0097.JPG https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0098.JPG Mike G doing a fine job of cutting out the bumper, we wanted to keep the front grill in tact, so it was a bit tricky, but using a airhack-saw it really makes things pretty easy.. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0099.JPG The Ron Jeremy Cock Shot https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0100.JPG Dave lee (leed) and Steve (88dx) show up in the icey hot crx with the new Irocz camaro hood mod. hahhahaha https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0102.JPG Setting up the Geek Pack Station https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0103.JPG Shortly after the power went out and we just started drinking and made a fire. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0101.JPG More brake cleaner was used in the fireplace than it was on the car. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0106.JPG Power came on about a hour later and we went back to work. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0107.JPG Steve and Dave did a real sweet job on the injector wiring (DSM 450's / Resitor box) :1 https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0110.JPG Taking a hit of the gayest looking blow off valve I've ever seen. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0111.JPG Steve mixing up a batch of JB weld for the Oil Pan https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0112.JPG Flat-rate drying process https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0113.JPG The nw guys https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0114.JPG All the chargepipes and downpipe mocked up. I was just gonna mig them, but for some reason the mig wasnt working that great. https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0115.JPG So we get shuttled over to beaus house by Dustin in his GSR that got worked by Navigator hahahah! :y https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0117.JPG Beau welding up all the pipes https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0118.JPG MGD through the straw https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0124.JPG Dave with a ---- eating grin on his face https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0127.JPG https://www.homemadeturbo.com/turbo_...j/CIMG0130.JPG All Done, it turned out pretty good. It took longer to tune it than anything, when Mike and Dave were out street tuning the shifter stabalizer bar/bushing that holds the shifter in place came out for some reason and dave had to hold it up for 15 mins on the drive back hah. Then we just had some minor problems with the ecu (that was already socketed) dave assumed it was ready to go, but it still needed some work. We put the boost controller on it and turned it up to around 10psi for now. Still running a stock fuel pump. Overall yesterday went pretty good, alot better than I expected. Thanks to.. Dave Steve Beau Mike G Dustin and my neighbor for letting me borrow misc things ;) |
