Default NSFW!!! thinking about trading my car

i currently own a 1995 civic ex and would either like to trade it for a 1994 or 1995 mx-5, or just buy an mx-5 while keeping my civic. i really want to know how hard it is to modify these little cars? as in turbo, standalone systems, suspension, are there alot of problems with these cars? are they easy to auto-x and drift? lol sorry for so many questions just want to know the basics i guess. also compared to my civic, how much more/less expensive is it to fix up? i went to: http://www.miata.net/ to get some more information, but all they did was direct me to the faq. i want to know experiences from real people. should i stick with my civic or buy the miata?

will post xxx later

94's and 95's are the best overall year miata to get, especially if you want to turbo it. They're easy to work on as they are RWD and have a large engine bay that was originally made wide for a possible V6 option that never happened. They take boost well too. Forged crank and rods from the factory. Most go from 100-110whp to 250whp with a turbo kit and clutch, exhaust, etc. But the engine itself is pretty stout. There's a few 300whp stock engine miatas, a few have went higher, but 300whp seems to be the limit. I'm around 270whp right now on my 99'. miata.net is a JOKE. miataturbo.net has all the info in the world, but you have to search for it. They don't hold hands and answer stupid questions for every newb. But if you need info you'll find it there. They cost more to mod than a civic though. But it's worth it when you get boosted. For a cheap turbo setup, a well known company in the miata world, BEGI, is working on a DIY "Shanghia" kit. Basically their badass manifold and downpipe with a chinese turbo to cut cost. Very promising if cheap and reliable are in you cards.

Look for a 94' with power windows, as these models have a torsen LSD from the factory, which is a popular $500 upgrade cause one wheel drive = gay. Deals come and go, just have to be on the lookout with cash in hand. Money talks. Don't look at ebay manifolds though, they suck. I'm sure this isn't news to you though. But I dunno what you're seeing that's stupid cheap.

I've got a turbo miata. Funnest car I've ever owned, and gayest too. Super-easy to work on, parts are cheap, handles awesome. It's just good ----.

Speaking of which, I popped my hood this morning and noticed a ~1cm x 7mm hole in my hot pipe. It might have been there for months but I hadnt noticed it visually nor by the way the car has been running, which is awesome. Gonna fix it today. Wouldnt be surprised if I start making boost at 1000rpm after it's fixed.

here's a super shitty vid of it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q0tDbc-a_5I
