as an a+ tech for 5 years now, go with AVG antivirus free edition. effective and runs in the background using very little memory. it updates constantly and stops worms and trojans the second they try to do anything.

best antivirus I have seen or used.

More like free recording and studio software. FL Studio and Cool Edit pro FTW, plus add ons and ----. I spend most my time on the computer making beats. If I want pr0n I give my girl a call. If you aren't stupid about where/what you download, you won't get any viruses. Only one I've ever had is one I got through email that I was aware was a virus, was gonna give to someone else, and opened on accident...doh. Whenever I do throw an antivirus on, it's avg or kaspersky.

BTW, you can download all the software and media you want without getting viruses, I've been doing it since napster when I first learned about the internets. Bittorrent is your friend.
