Northern Tools Welder Advice...
So, I am looking for a portable 110 welder to weld exhaust pipe, roll cages, trailer frames, and the like. I've used a craftsman 110 in the past from a buddy of mine to do the above mentioned tasks with no real problem. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the welder listed below or can provide me any advice as to why to or why not to buy this welder. Thanks everyone.

Normally I would consider a 125 amp welder as borderline for roll cage work but being flux core wire only experience tells me that flux core does penentrate better than a gas welder as there isnt the cooling effect of the gas.
While the weld does need cleaning up it will simply brush off with a wire brush quite easily and unlike gas shielded welders is ideal for outside work.
Proper prep will allow even this level of welder to do a decent job for what you envisage, obviously practise to learn the machine before any safety related project is paramount.
Certainly a good start unit I have used a 150 amp Miller for roll cage work and it was tested sucessfully with an end for end 5 times at 90mph with not a hint of structural failure.
Experience leads me to believe 125 amp fluxcore can weld like a 150 amp gas mig as far as penentration goes having used both myself as well as Kemmpi and Miller Tig units dont see to many problems if common sense is applied.
