North-West peeps, anyone got body shop hookups?
 

I got into a little situation where my car got tagged by an uninsured motorist. To make a long story short, my insurance company is paying for the damages and then sue them. Anywho, here's the problem: I've got a body guy that will paint / fix my whole car for relatively cheap (the plan ever since I got the car was to get my whole car painted), BUT my insurance company only cuts checks to legit body shops, and he's pretty much freelance. Does anyone know any owners that would be down to strike up a deal where my insurance company writes them a check, I give them some cash (say $100), and they give me the money from the check? Either that, or write an "over"-estimate to fix my driver's side fender too and paint/shave miscellaneous things. I'm trying to find a way to come up from a shitty misfortune, so if anyone can help me do that, that'd be awesome. Let me know!

...if all else fails, any body shop that any of you WA heads have had good experiences with, list them here.

Where's Afterhours? That's a shady ass name LoL. Tacoma is damn far from where I am, Everett, but I appreciate the recommendation. Still might have to check 'em out.

i know a place that likes to overcharge insurance companies, damn wheres that number..i'll pm or post it up once i find it. they do good work too

all body shops know that if it is an insurance claim they will overestimate it. Why? Cause the insurance company pretty much never gives them the quoted amount. So to make up for it, they over quote that way they get a figure closer to what they want. For example, if you go to a body shop and ask for a quote, they will more than likely ask you if it's an insurance claim or not, wonder why.

Why don't you go get several estimates and just have the insurance company write you a check?

don't even think about that. Probably won't get your money.

The insurance company won't write me a check. They only pay out to body shops or the bank since the car isn't paid off yet. Otherwise I wouldn't have this problem and my car would probably be in a booth right now :-\

Afterhours is in Bellevue....named that because he works pretty much until 9pm unlike other shops. He does everything -- used to be a big drag racer at PR with a couple of his cars but now he just does body/engine/repair work. I'll let you know....very reputable shop, the SeattleRSX guys all support his shop.
