I remember about 7 years ago there was a Car and Driver article about drifting( they might have called it something else, I got rid of the mag a long time ago) and it was pretty much all camaros and rwd v8 cars that put skinny little tires on the rear and slid around a parking lot somewhere in Hawaii.

Worst thing that ever happened to me was I skidded across a drainage ditch that I couldn't drive back across. An old farmer got out of bed at 1 am and pulled my car back across with a chain, wouldn't take any money from me. Good times.

drifting was done. yes. now its scored. thats the difference. Hell, I use to haul *** into the school parking lot sideways...but never called it drifting.
