Default Noob Question: Passing Emissions with a swap?

For instance you have a eg with a h22 in it you can still pass emissions if your motor isnt producing to much exhaust gases right? Or do they know the displacement of the motor and match the displacement equivalent to smog?

What state are you in, and what year vehicle? (ie OBD I or II)

If its a sniff test, then they are measuring in PPM or parts per million, its a ratio of how much crap you have to good stuff, not determined by how much exhaust actually comes out. As long as your emissions is all good you pass a sniff test in OBD I

As long as you have all the emissions in order you should be fine. They dont ever look under the hood, they just get an idle rpm reading and then hook up the sniffer.

Im sure they pop the hood to check for vacuum kines, egr etc. Swaps arent legal never have been never will be unless you get them ref'd. this only applies to states that have smog.

Nope not in Washington....brought two to the ref in the past year.... the last one was just a few weeks ago with a new Prelude I just bought not once have they ever opened the hood. The Prelude had a swap done recently and had screws pluging loose vacum lines

I always go to the station in South Hill Puyallup, just keep your mouth shut about the H22

---- happens

anyways, in wa, you wont have a problem with it. its still an h22 that was in a prelude that still passed emissions. as long as you didn't dick around with it too much yet it'll be fine. if not, they dont care, they just say you failed and why and you ahve to fix it. you dont get "caught" for anything. they could care less

its fine most of them wouldnt even know its a swap. The only time they would pop your hood would be if the cigarete lighter dosent work and they use your positive and ground from the battery to get power. It should past smog test if you got everything running correctly, if not just buy that G2P( Guaranteed to past) dump that in your gas tank and go take the test, my cousin didnt past the first time then used that G2P and passed.
