Noob doing a swap....advice?
Hi guys. I have a 1992 integra and a b16a obd0 engine.
Ive heard alot about how to do the swap from obd1 to obd0 motor. Ive came up with the conclusion to find a obd1 b16 ecu and use that. GIVE ME ALL THE ADVICE YOU CAN!!!!!!!! |
Re: Noob doing a swap....advice?
seems like you know what you need. Whats the issue? you need to be more specific. This is also the wrong forum btw. You will also need an obd1 dizzy and the 4wire o2

You can use your PR4 ECU, you dont need to convert to OBD0, just use everything you have, you will need to swap your O2 sensor and alternator to that of the B18 from your integra, you also need a B16 obd1 ecu, I'm not sure if you can swap the internals from the B18, if so do that.and avoid buying an expensive ECU |
Re: Noob doing a swap....advice?
are you planning on just running the b16, or is this ls/vtec. there is a girl in my town who has a b16 swapped teg like that and its slow as balls. runs great, but its slower than stock. if your looking for power then just ls/vtec it till you can afford to turbo it.

So basically, what distributor could he use? Any obd1 B1X? Use stock harness, wire in vtec use the o2 and alternator from b18... And of course use the stock b18 mounts :) |
Re: Noob doing a swap....advice?
i think he'll need a b-series Vtec dist. (for PROPER mounting).
pr4, what about the vtec!? chip a p28 w/ del sol maps ? use the 4-wire o2 sensor from the b18 |
Re: Noob doing a swap....advice?
I hope its not slower than stock... >:(
wtf would i even do this for then basically im just looking for advice and your thoughts about how the swap and if its worth it. waddaya think ? vtec :y |
Re: Noob doing a swap....advice?
what ECU comes in the b16 del sols? we could try to find one of those

Re: Noob doing a swap....advice?
When I said B1X dizzy I also meant Vtack, not a non vtec b18 ;)

not a "Stab", just pointing out. |
Re: Noob doing a swap....advice?
If you dont want it to be slower than just use the b16 head and a b series dizzy with a vtek controller or the right ecu.

Re: Noob doing a swap....advice?
Chip a P28 and do an LS/VTEC. It might cost a little bit more but you'll be happier when all is said and done. I suppose you could just run a straight B16 for awhile and keep your LS block handy. Hell you could even build the LS block while you drive around with no torque until 6,000 RPM. Once it goes on, that'd be a pretty sweet setup.

Re: Noob doing a swap....advice?
We've been talking, he says if the B16 is too slow he's going turbo....
Here's to hoping it's slow! http://www-glast.slac.stanford.edu/s...ges/cheers.png |
Re: Noob doing a swap....advice?
b16 teg is slower than a b16 hatch, so its gonna be slow, no more tq than a stock SOHC, just a little more HP up top, which means on the street its gonna suck. stick w/ an LS or ls/vtec, or boost what you have.

Re: Noob doing a swap....advice?
He's not planning to use this as a daily, this is his "project"... I'm not thinking Nick is going to stay in low RPM's much :)
I'm trying to convince him into a turbo setup to get ~250whp... edit: It'd be almost like having a GS-R integra anyways, hp wise... s1 transmission with LSD will be nice too :y |
Re: Noob doing a swap....advice?
its my B16 thats going into the car and im doing the swap. i'm gonna take his b18 and turbo it for my G1 teg. maybe turbo with itb's :S
i told him to put itb's on that bitch and have some loud ass fun :y |
