Haven't in a while, was on second shift in Huber for about a year...now I work in Fairfield and don't feel like driving the 60 miles to Xenia. Once I get the CRX boosted I'll try to make it up there more.
You've probably seen my brothers up there though, one is a sbc Sonoma (maroon) runs about a 12.89 or so, the other is a black Trans-Am with Billet Speciailties wheels running in the 13's.

Nope, plain jane sonoma. Daily drives it, time to reubild the tranny though we broke it doing donuts the other day....lasted nearly 100k miles and 150+ drag strip passes so yeah it held up pretty good. Runs Trans Am wheels on it most of the time, I think his stickies are mounted on Iroc-Z wheels.

So do you just completely disregard the idea of tire slippage and go?

if your track sprays down traction compound and its well maintained you shouldent slip if you just have a 14 flat car.

Define traction slippage..........

A rubber compund works BEST when slipping......

When launching my slicks @ 12 psi spin about 1/2 - 3/4 rev and the car holeshots away!!!!!!

Ricewater of Tristate........Tristate preps theie track better, Edgewater won;t ever go back to race on a T&T night. I was told I had to run with the street tire cars which at Edgewater they force you to line up out of the groove. No traction possible.

22x8x13's @ 8 psi, spinning badly on a NA launch. Went back to the old lady who has taken my entry fee for 10 years, she refunded my money and I went home.

If your name isn't Gary Rohe or Dick Weinle son, you get NO track prep. NO VHT even with a oil down. I've even seen people offer $$$ to have some VHT put down.............sorry........

Kilkare and Tristate have about the same bumpy track and SHORT shutdown area.

Made it out for two runs Friday...

First run was 2.2 60' & 14.47 ET, which was very nice considering... Seems like I was either dragging my ass in the burnout box or my E-brake was slipping because my FTL turned off. That sucked. But a 'light" barely smokey burnout & launching at 5,500 RPM worked pretty good.

My 2nd run I swicthed chips to try the BBKA bin with 5,500 RPM FTL. I sat in the box a bit longer and smoked my tires up good... I think a little too good because I got some really crappy wheel hop. I got something like a 2.6 60' & 15.5 ET.

Then it rained, so I went home. ;D All in all, I see much more potential. Thanks for all the tips... hopefully I can get that 60' time lower and work down to 13's... :o

I just picked up a pair of g-force DR's today. I look forward to seeing how they do versus my tiny slicks that could do no better than a 2.0 60ft. I'd be willing to bet the DR's will do better. It's all in that first 60 feet :)

i haven't had too much luck with my 555r's at the track either, but they're nice on the street as my daily driver tires. i've only been to the track with them once so i'm sure i could pull a 2.0 at least with them with some more practice, but slicks are where it's at, 24.5x9, just dump the clutch at about 7500 and hold on >:D
