Whoa whoa whoa...
It's not Nick's fault the other idiot in the car wasn't wearing a seatbelt. The article neglected to mention that fact... and that the police say his condition might have been better had he actually been strapped in.

There is no way he is walking away with this without a real jail term. How many felonies was he charged with. Wrecking a car causing someone to be in coma for months most likely causing brain damage and possibility of death he will get owned in prison. California law thats atleast 5 years.

I didn't know that but none the less you are responsible for the people in your vehicle. You want to race someone and your passenger isn't wearing their seat belt and you crash its your fault.
a) you don't need to race
b) you don't need to drive the car if your buddy isn't wearing a seat belt.
I'm not saying its not the buddies fault for not wearing a seat belt but I'm a BIG supporter of wearing them and refuse to drive when my passengers aren't wearing them. I wouldn't want to be responsible for one of my friends deaths.

Re: Nick bollea gets charged
i think he needs some good prison time. i have a couple offenders in my prison who are here for writing hot checks. now granted it wasnt a first offence and it was thousands of dollars, but think of the money in medical bills he is racking up, all courtesy of nick. he needs to serve some time, he is a repeat offender when it comes to cars, so i think its only right.

A) I agree you don't need to race
For your refusing to drive when the passanger isn't wearing one, then I guess you won't be driving me anywhere. If the car has air bags and dosen't have a PODS setup. I'm not wearing my seatbelt. This includes when I drive my Civic. For people like me who are short or have short arms an need to be closer to the steering wheel then average, airbags are not your friend unless, as stated the car has PODS. VW in particular in certain models look at passanger postion, if they are or aren't wearing a seatbelt, an how much they weight (on the passanger side seat for the weight) to determine what ignitor to use in an airbag situation.
My 92 civic has none of these options and untill I remove the air bag an replace the steering wheel. I will not be wearing my seatbelt...This is subject to change if VA pushes through with laws that they can pull you over for not wearing a seatbelt, but at this time, its not likely to happen an will remain a secondary offense.

now for a passenger i like them to wear a seat belt especially if im going to do something dumb unless its one of my good buddys and they know what there getting into and just dont wear it. they know when to put it on. now if the kid was to stupid to put it on while they were racing thats his own damn fault. i think if the passanger is there under 16 its your responsibility but after that its not yours anymore.
