a turd, a shitbox, a lunchbox, a dog, maybe even a rust bucket but never a classic

Depends who you ask.

Although I personally don't think they're old enough to be a "classic" yet, even though they are 20 years old now, I can see them (crxs especially) being considered a classic one day.

There are a lot of cars that were once considered shitboxes and are now classics. I don't see anything different happening to a cheap japanese car that has garnered a larger number of enthusiasts than a lot of current classics.

its hard to call something classic when over a million were made

a s200 or city turbo or turbo II would be the exceptions for "classics"

Yah, they made a ---- ton of those mid-late 60's Mustangs, people were throwing them away because when you make a million of them they are devalued and therefore worthless. Good example. I hereby reverse my statement that the car on eBay is clean as hell and worth keeping, crush that dime a dozen worthless ---- and go buy a sweet new Kia Rio which is worth so much more just because it's new.
