Newbie Turbo Questions

What is the advantage of a ball bearing turbo to the normal ones? What type of bearings do the normal turbos have? is it fluid bearing or what. i read an article on this i still do not understand ball bearing turbos. What are hte advantages of ball bearing turbos to fluid?

What other types of bearings are used on turbos?

Re:Newbie Turbo Questions

By utilizing a ball-bearing center cartridge, versus a conventional bronze bushing type bearing, weight and friction on the center shaft is reduced allowing for increased response

researching is fun

Re:Newbie Turbo Questions

All TURBONETICS CERAMIC BALL-BEARING turbochargers are manufactured to the strictest aerospace standards by the most experienced technicians in the trade. Quality control is maintained throughout the precision assembly process to assure adherence to the closest tolerances in the industry. All CERAMIC BALL-BEARING turbochargers are VSR balanced at rated speeds to less than .05 G - the toughest specification in the performance turbocharger industry

bitch get off me

The NASA inspired angular contact, CERAMIC BALL-BEARING design (Patent pending) practically eliminates thrust bearing and operational surge failures. The CERAMIC BALL-BEARING system can safely handle 50 TIMES more thrust loading than conventional turbochargers , making it ideal for severe transients and extreme pressure ratio applications

Re:Newbie Turbo Questions

ball bearing turbos will spool faster, and keep spinning with less energy. Regular turbos work fine too. If you have the money for a ball bearing, do it. If your car is going to be an all track car, get one. If not you won't really notice a difference between them. They work the same, as far as mechanics goes, but the ball bearing will make it spin "easier". Don't worry about it.

hope this helps bitch :-* :-*

and he is right, they call them ceramic ball bearing turbo.
