Hi all, I stumbled on this site as I am looking to do my first turbo conversion, and I must say it looks good!
My name is Marc, I am based in the UK, and I'm the UK events manager for club323f
I have several Mazda 323fs, my everyday car is a 2003 Sport (also known as Protege P5) which has been modified a fair bit

My track day car is a 1993 BG chassis 1.8 GTi. I've stripped the interior out, lowered it on Eibach suspension, and fitted grooved/drilled discs and greenstuff pads. It ran a 16.3 at Santa Pod - although I faced a hell of a headwind (excuses excuses  ) and I'd like to get more out of it for next summer...so I figured a turbo is the way forward :)

Mazda made the GTX and GTR with similar engines, so I am hoping that my conversion would be fairly easy, if I based the parts on one of those? I have found Corksport, which sell the GTX exhaust manifold and downpipe, which fit the IHI VJ20 turbo (which, to be honest, means very little to me...)

They also sell an inlet manifold - alhough I'm not too sure if I'd need this? In fact, I'm not totally sure what I will need...

What I am after primarily is advice - I am totally new to this, and know very very little, so any hints or tips would be most welcome. I would, I guess, be buying the parts from corksport, then I'll need a turbo, and an ECU...and some plumbing :D

Anyway, I'm looking forward to having a better look round here, and starting my project over the following months - here she is now...

i like the lines of that white car. i dont know much about edm mazdas but i know mazda is not much for interchangability like honda is. so i do not know if the gtx parts will fit, but piecing together a kit is pretty cheap and can better suit your goals in most cases. if you want to try to use stock parts from the gtx or the gtr call the place your going to order it from and confirm they fit. from what i have read about this is that your 1.8L is a bp engine and the gtr and gtx is a bpt so i think there is a good chance the turbo system could fit. hopefully someone that knows more will chime in. try to contact brianmp5t on here he knows his mazda ---- very well, all though i dont think he logs on anymore

bodywork wise i have fitted the mazdaspeed P5 front lip (not available in the UK) and I have lowered it. the wheels are from the mazda 6 sport - 17" instead of he 16" 323 sport ones...that's pretty much it, apart from the rear lights :)

the sideskirts, rear spoiler etc are all standard sport kit
