New used car for me

So requirements are 4 doors, 2002 or newer, needs to be realtivly quick for its class and cheap. Lookin to spend like 10K so ive been finding Type S and Maxima's with like 60K on em for that. Looked at an Audi A6 for about 5 minutes before I realized what i was doing, i test drove it and thought something was wrong with the car but no they are realy just that slow. How do you ---- up a 3 liter twin turbo so bad it doesnt even put out 200whp. Pathetic Audi=slow.

Test drove an I35 today turned TCS off and left like 30 yards worth of stripe from the stop light, god i love that nissan pull.

Anything else fall into my catagory?

Those all seem to be competitors in the mid size range. You can get an 01 tl-s for cheap, but not sure how you feel about mileage. Note the auto j32 trannys are junk and love to go. Several class action lawsuits have scored a 100k powertrain warrenty though. I guess i'd go tl-s or i35, ---- audi. Then again i'm not a fan of nissan either. I voted for the herp ;)

Yeah i did my homework and the tranny issue was resolved in marrch 05 and honda extended the warrenty based off Vin's till like 107K i think. I gotta get 02 or newer thoguh due to the Auto loan. :-\ and i figure hell if im takin a loan out then i want it as low milage as possible.

I thought about the IS300 but isnt that like deathly slow? Always thoguth they looked hot but felt the same abotu an audi. All that disenchatment left me when the ford explorer took off from the light faster than the A4 i was in could keep up, and the explorer didnt know we were racing. I do not plan to mod the car or race it but if i cant beat SUV's im gonna aim the car for a wall.

i like the tl's. but 18 mpg kills me...same thing with a g35.

you cant really get wonderful gas milage in a 4 door sedan, unless you want to go with something that is slow as balls. My friend has a g35 and its pretty quick, i'd say its as fast or faster than my GTP. The interior kicks ass too, reclining rear seats.

My girlfriend has the is300 and i drive it everytime i am with her, cuz she doesnt want to drive, but it is extremely slow. Really slow, its torqueless, has decent high end i suppose, but the engine makes zero torque. Shift points in it piss me off too. On the good side it gets decent gas mialge, 320-350 per tank.

Audi does not, and has never made a twin-turbo 3.0l anything. A6 got a 2.7turbo and a 3.0l n/a V6. You drove a n/a car because a 2.7a6 will stomp a mudhole in a mustang Gt from a dig.

But I agree ---- Audi. Always Under Diagnostic Inspection

Anything not Japanese is asking for trouble. When it does break, it will break you.

I would get an automatic wrx. No major problems and enough parts laying around that it wont kill you if something does break.

It was a 2.7t and i can promise you under no cuirumstance would this A6 handed an ass to anything. Only had like 78K on it and there is not doubt in my mind that my huge ass 6000 lbs pilot would have filet'd its ass. they dyno 190whp stock. Less than 200 in a 4500 lbs car is slower than death.

Re: New used car for me

IS300 doesn't even fall into the category of his poll as far as space goes. As far as mpg, I avg about 20c/28-30h depending on speed. Car has an awesome fdr though that really helps with mileage. Not quite as good as johnny's 904.452 mpg his mustang or camaro gets, but you get the point.

First off, an A6 does not fall into the 10K category. A decent one would go for 16k+
The one you drove was busted ass broken. Your numbers are wrong too, they usually put 265ish to the ground, and make well over 300lbft. Dont listen to internet fools with MS paint dynographs.

Dont mistake me for someone who gives a ---- about an Audi, just wanted to set the record straight.

So lets see...

1. $10kish price
2. Enough power to outrun an SUV
is all you really care about, your choices are limited. None of the mentioned cars are going to get that great gas mileage, and none are really in the 'reliable' category, so I think I would go with the type S since newer nissians fall into the "Fail" category with most new hondas. At least with the Acura ppl will think you have some cash...

Then again, that might be a bad thing if you have family members that like to bum money from you. Just tell them to ---- off.

you know not that i want to argue with you, cause once again ---- audi, but ive been doing the footwork on this for roughly a month. Its a stretch at 10K but you can find em on the lot for 12 but who pays sticker.

\heres a stock audi dyno'd at 191

Heres a 2.7T for 12

that was teh one i drove and here is the one i wanted
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...00&cardist=130

they are fail. Now if you want to mod them then different story a reflash commonly gets them like 50 whp so sayith interweb lore but I don't know bout that. I just know what i looked at and drove. I came home to google it wiki it and all that cause i couldn't believe it was that slow.

and the s types have tranny issues from 02 - 05. so far i haven't heard anything from the Nissan camp. What sort of issues do they usually have? this is the ---- i was hopin to hear. wrench twisters what do you work on less? lol

Re: New used car for me

that 2.7t has good potential and modding one doesn't make it anymore unreliable than it already is haha.

only problem with those is that i hear the tranny is spendy when it goes. but the auto is a dog, the 2.7t in a stick is a world of difference.
