i'm sure a lot of u know about hondas new engine. 1.8L sohc putting around 200 hp. i just think its cool that they made a dohc 1.8 then managed to do it with a sohc. yay or nay to this engine?

Is this something thats gonna be in the new models for like this upcoming year? Honda is just releasing the new civic si and thats a k20(same as the rsx type-s) so I don't see why there would put out this new engine cause wouldn't it make people buy this 200hp sohc instead of spending more on the si? Maybe I didn't read too much in it at the store but I didn't see any of this. ??? Give us a link to the article on the HT website.

i remember reading something about some new motor that was powerful for its kind. vtec of course

yea it has ivtec naturally. i think i read the new si will be tweaked a little diffrent than the type s motor. there gonna put out 22 thou si's a year. the new soch goes in the other coups like ex in about 2 years.

they are making a SOHC 1.8 but it will only put out 140hp. that will be the base engine in the new coupe that is coming out

The new 2006 Civic (sedan and coupe) engine will be a 1.8 liter SOHC making 140HP. The new 2006 Civic SI engine will be 2.0 liter DOHC I-VTEC making 197HP.

does anyone know about the canadian cars like acura 1.8 cl i think it is it looks like a new civic iv seen a shitload of 1.6 cars but i thought i saw a few 1.8 cars i was wondering if thos has b18bs or somthing like that

Yeah that new "bs" b18 is suppose to be one hawt engine! hahah bs.... ::) This post seems like something I'd see on HT from some 16 year old newb. Just pure bs and not reading the complete article and not getting the whole story and info.

wow the one thing i havnt heard anyone say is that its a 1.8l k series motor. yeah i heard its fly by also but in a few years people will be throing these outlike d f series motors. and i heard its got low comp should b fun

That's still really impressive to me. What do the K20s do in HP range as of now anyway? The bodystyle is nice and gay. Like a squashed Accord with some JDM headlights.

Just looking at the new civic makes me wanna vomit :-X I can't remember off the top of my head...160ish maybe? Someone correct me if i'm wrong...I don't feel like looking it up or digging out a Honda Tuning to check :P

There is definatley somthing wrong with your numbers for the K20A.

If that motor makes 206tq @ 7000 rpms, that means that at that same 7000 rpms, it would be making:
(206*7000) = 1442000
1442000/5252 = 274.56hp ... again, 1000 rpms lower than the printed hp of 220...

Since horsepower, as we know, is torque * rpm / 5252.

So where'd you get your torque #?

They are dropping the RSX. The new Civic Si is supposed to take its place in the Honda lne up. RSX sales have not been as good as the Integra that it replaced.

Actually the new ivtec sohc is the latest efforts to stay with madza 3i(150hp), chevy cobalt(145hp) and the ford focus(136hp) and no its not gonna have 200hp it says right here it will make 140hp@6300 rpm with 128ft-lbs of torue@4300 rpm O0

the "integra" line will end in 06 or 07 i believe, and there is a (currently) unnamed new sport compact going to take its place- not the civic. its another car

the new sohc are called the L series. there will be 1.5L ones as well.

no more :shrug: if they got the lobe seperation correct with one cam, there is no reason to have 2.

the sohc doesnt make 200 hp its the 2006 civic si with dohc with 2.0 liter engine
