New little toy...

http://www.imagestation.com/picture/...4/fbf20a64.jpg

it's already installed, but I haven't been able to hear/test it yet. What's funny that I didn't know.. it's made to stay closed while at idle... must be for use in cars like the eclipse turbo to keep the engine running properly. It felt so good to hold in my hand I thought it was worth a picture of it.

Na, I meant in the picture.. there are dead people on the floor. In life, it's easy to overlook stuff like that,.. you know.

Re:New little toy...

Re:New little toy...

well... I tested it on a scale and it opens at 10 lbs, but when I idled the car the shaft stayed closed, but when I reved it, the thing would open at just the flow from the turbo.. so I know boost will open it fine. If not, then I will shorten the spring.. and it will work fine. It has a HUGE spring inside there.

Re:New little toy...

could you swap in the type s spring in it....so it will actuate at lower boost?? will it still be loud as hell??

MR_DR_PEP 06-12-2003 12:14 PM

Re:New little toy...

I'm sure you could...

Dr. Boost, what's your setup? What pressure are you running?

Re:New little toy...

10 psi. Super 60. That BOV is sooooo loud. Even at very low, almost no boost it still blasts off.

Re:New little toy...

I got a small sound clip up...

http://www.geocities.com/siturborex/...rboxs_0psi.mp3 (right click, save as...)

that was done at 0 psi and below 3k rpm because of my launch control... I was able to drive it today and the BOV sounds like a huge explosion! It's what I would expect... it's very nice.

Re:New little toy...

that sounds almost identical to my 1g dsm valve right there, its even got the little whine towards the end...

Re:New little toy...

i thought that all BOV's stay closed at idle because there is not boost during idle.

boost, then the throttle plate is closed releaves the pressure in the intake tube then theres no pressure. If it were to stay open wouldnt dirty non filtered air get in there?????
