I have a couple friends who started Asheville Porter Service, which provides after hours cleaning service to local restaurants. They do once or twice weekly type deals, the DO NOT clean up the kitchen as that is the restaurant staff's responsibility. They basically move all the equipment around, clean behind it, and pressure wash the walls, floor, and hoods so that the kitchen remains spotless. IIRC they a little less than what you do a week for a once a week 2-3 hour service, and the restaurant owner signs a contract that if they roll out and there's a bunch of busboy type crap left for them "because the cleaners are coming tonight" they get paid for having their time wasted.

There are a lot of crazy hole in the wall restaurants in Asheville, some retro fitted into crazy places, and sanitation is important. Despite having to turn down a lot of places because it was too much work (kitchens with untiled walls so they couldn't pressure wash 80% of the surfaces) they are super busy. Last I talked to the owners they had four two man crews working five nights a week with 1-2 pressure washers (one or two trucks drive them to and from different crews), were taking care of 18 restaurants most on a once weekly basis. Most of the money per restaurant was passed to the workers and Mike and Flash just skimmed a profit off the top. I don't think Mike even rolls out to check on anyone, anymore, his *** is perched on a barstool at Usual Suspects every time I roll in there. I guess he tells his wife he's going to work and just gets drunk.

You ever think how you present yourself is all wrong, buk? Mike and Flash are basically modern day gypsies, both somewhat bright but too damn lazy to get a real job. They just sweet talked their way into the deal. You are likely not as socially adept but you seem to have their brains and a work ethic (sans whining), so I am sure if you presented yourself correctly someone somewhere would pay you a living wage and smile at you every time you walked in the door.

The place I'm working at now we have a guy come in to clean, basically just vacuuming the whole place (bowling alley, restaurant). The employees take care of the rest (all the party rooms, the lower level where Laser Tag is, etc) with vacuuming, wiping tables, trash, etc. I work with a bunch of lazy high schoolers/recent graduates for the most part but we always made sure to get our ---- done so people like you, buk, didnt have to worry about cleaning ---- that wasn't expected of you. One nice thing too, if we did happen to put him in a situation where he had to do more than the job requires, you get bitched at by one manager and two owners. The place is kinda shitty in some ways but atleast we've got a good structure going.

And keep looking for a job too. I finally got my degree here in December and scored a job now that's gonna be twice what I'm making there at the bowling alley fixing laser tag parts all day, vacuuming, cleaning, wiping tables, taking out the garbage, taking care of parties, etc and the new one I'm going to be dealing with children who have some sort of social and/or mental issue, say an autistic child who doesn't respond to his name, you condition them to the point where they do so. It's full time, whereas I got 30 hrs most at the 'alley, and actually comes with benefits, so I can actually go see my doctor for once. Took me a long *** time to find a better job but man they're out there if you keep your eyes peeled. It's probably a little bit tougher out there in Detroit though, gl with the new job interview

the way they got the equipment positioned in this resturant no ------- way you can even move it..

and when they leave at night everything stays out.. pots/pans/stove pilot lights...

so cant just hose that ---- off.. the kitchen draining system is retarded and or designed and or built by a retard.. the water collects in the back against a wall... lol no drain.. and employees push all the garbage to the back under the stove.. i came into work one day and they had dumped oil in the back and when i washed the oil was everywehere

like i said i dont mind doing bitch work for ---- pay but i dont like being treated like im a bitch doing bitch work for bitch pay

i always wanted to work with retarded/dyslexic kids

basically get paid to say the same thing or do the same thing over and over and over and over again to condition a kid to be good or not yell or not throw ---- or not hit themselves..

pretty fun and rewarding job too
