New Honda engine runs 65:1 A/F ratio....WTF?
http://world.honda.com/news/2003/4031127.html
The newly developed 2-liter DOHC i-VTEC I integrates the i-VTEC system, which combines VTEC (Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) and VTC (Variable Timing Control), with a newly developed center injection system, for an air-fuel ratio*1 of 65:1, an unprecedented level of ultra-lean combustion. Stable combustion is achieved with considerably less fuel than with conventional direct injection engines, for which an air-fuel ratio of 40:1 was the limit. The new engine makes for sporty driving and a high fuel efficiency of 15.0 km/L*2. |

Yeah I read about that engine; the injectors direct fuel directly into the cylinder (they're centered over the piston)... I guess there's less wasted fuel and they can control combustion better ???

taht is a brillant idea, hell some of the pro cars out there do direct injection in hte cylender (sprint cars come to mind) and they push over 600 HP

i most recent 350 (359 ci) for our sprint car dynoed out at OVER 800 hp. to be exact it was 807 hp and 731 ft.lbs torq. it it does not h ave direct injection like that. :-) but the 410 we are running does and it makes more hp then that :-)
14.9:1 compression, on meth. |
