New guy!

Hi guys, my name is Alex, I am 18 years old, and I am from Brampton, Ontario in Canada.

I am new here, I found out about this site from a friend, I told him I am thinking of going turbo, so he told me about this site, I have a 1996 Honda Civic EK4 H/B the original motor is a D16Y7 but I just purchased a B18B1 power plant for the car picked it up for $500 but it's auto, so my plan is to convert it to a manual 1st then add a T3/T4 turbo charger. So if any of you have done a Set-up similar to what I want to make, please help me out, if you have tips, and suggestions? I am really new to this, I am more of a N/A guy but decided to go Boost ... so if you can list some of the things that I will be needing on making a Turbo B18B, and if your in my part of the world, can refer me to some places that have parts cheep and good quality ... okay I guess that's all!

Again I am glad to be here, and hope we will have much to chat about!...

Cheers...

-Alex

What's auto? The car or the motor/tranny?

the motor/tranny

Re:New guy!

the motor is, that's why I got it so cheep, the guy put a Turbo Sir in his Integra, I was there, and I offerd him $500 for the whole set up he said ok, cause the b18b's sell for like $1000 down here auto or manual, so no biggie I just have to convert the motor to a manual tranny, my buddie sayd I need a few parts but I forgot what they are...

I'm going to go with my usual reply:

Research is the key to success. Please search before asking, most likely your question has already been answered in an older thread. Goodluck

thats a good one right there.
I am new here, but I really dislike people expecting the world to layed before them on a platter. get in the trenches and do some research.

:P and yea, your friend is smart this site is amazing, enjoy it.

Re:New guy!

true that, but some times you need help from the peeps that have done it before and can help step by step, but I am looking trough the whole site, so far nothing about the "auto to manual motor conversion" :-\

Re:New guy!

there isnt much to it. the ecu and of course the tranny.
research holmes.

Re:New guy!

damn paz, you tell him.

Yes friend, research is what you need to do before asking questions. The rule is that there is nothing new under the sun, what you are doing has been done before. Because this is honda (and not daewoo) then there is most likely a writeup of what you are about to do. Look into honda-tech for some answers, keep your questions to this forum but that right there is the end-all knowledge base.

nope, name's Mike.

Re:New guy!

that's mike, not andrew.

nobody is going to just hand you the instructions on how to do everything you want to do to your car, so you're going to have to learn bits and pieces and then figure the rest out yourself.
