thats a lot for a rebuilt.

That's not bad. Here in Phx you'll pay $90 an hour for shop rate, plus parts, and other supplies...

Yes, they did a valve grind. The guy that did it said it really needed it, that it had really been run a long time and pretty hard after they did the work.

they milled .004 more off? how much was the head milled to begin with? you have to take all of this in to consideration when determing what your c/r is going to be. if i recall, every .001 is roughly +.1 compression bump.

not quite, it's closer to .005 = .1 compression increase. so this wouldn't have changed it much more...

I'm probably fucked then, cause it's a total of .024 now. I read on honda-tech that the most you can safely take off without piston/valve interferance is like .050.

Add the welded combustion chambers to that and I'm estimating around 11:1 compression ratio...sound about right?

get ready to have some fun with setting the timing correctly on that head. milling the head retards, or advances the timing pretty good i do beleive. You can always buy a thicker HG though.

DUde... just take it to a trusty machine shop and they can rebuild that ---- for like 80-100 bucks.... good as ------- new....

there wasnt ---- wrong with that head in the first place anyways, cept for a little carbon buildup like Jeff said.
