Default New clutch?

I just bought a 89 prelude Si on tuesday, and the guy showed me proof that the clutch was replaced about a week ago. This is my first man trans car. so i wasnt all that good to begin with of course, but after a while i got used to it. Now yesterday i was normally driving and all the sudden 2nd was working, then realized that reverse also went. Took it to the mechanic today and he said since i was new to driving stick i burnt the clutch and it needs to be replaced. To my question, is it possible to burn a clutch within a 1 day or is this mechanic trying to get me for my money?

ur tranny is shot not the clutch
getting into gear has nothing to do with the clutch when you arent moving

^^^^^^^^ as much as people will make fun and say youre doing it, you normally wont burn a clutch in a day no matter how bad you if your just daily dreiving

you'd know if you were burning a clutch, you will be revving high, hardly moving and slowly starting to....... if you find this happens starting up hills, spinn your tires, tires are easier to replace than a clutch

no necessarily. My brothers last integra and his current hatch had issues putting it in gear while rolling. Same problem on both of them, the springs on the hub of the clutch fell out.

yeah, it can be the clutch springs. the guy could have bent hte gear selector arms putting the transmission back in. You can check and see if its the clutch by putting it in first then dumping the clutch (dont give it any throttle) car should stall and die real quick. if it does, then your clutch is probably cool, and your trannys probably fucked.

Same here. My old tercel had that problem. Took the clutch out and the springs fell out. It was like the clutch was permantly engaged.

Oh ya, also the same with my 88 prelude.

Clutch can cause it not to go in gear, but only in 2 gears? Nah, I'd have to say that's more of a transmission problem.
