The new beater
Finally admitted I blew the HG on the E34, gonna replace it with a stocker and stock bolts again (only costs <100$ for both) but without the correct BMW tools and a lot of time it's a tricky project so I finally decided to stop ------- myself over by having a project car for a daily and picked up the first beater I saw.
BMW is gonna sit in the driveway most of the winter, then I will swap duties during the summer and use both cars for my commute/weekend cruising.
Got it for 100$, re soldered all the in dash connections so now the radio and heat and a/c work, fixed the 100% dead gauge cluster which works mint, the tires are all unevenly worn and starting to bald and the right rear strut is snapped in two.
Good thing is the ****** weighs about 2200# as it sits, got 35mpg on the way to school with the atx, no obvious drivetrain issues.
Getting 2 winter tires mounted on some alloy wheels for 70$, got two used but good rear struts/springs/mounts for 70$, two new front struts with new ebay springs for 65$. This is all the money I PLAN on spending on it, you all know how that goes. Besides the color it feels like a great cheap beat that I dont mind wrecking over and over this winter.
Current plans are to keep it running as cheap as possible, I swear on my life not to boost it until after this summer (said same ---- about the E34, was buying turbo parts a week later).

Re: The new beater
flat blacking it would require spending as much money as filling a tank of gas
its not a Lamborghini ------ im waiting till the paint gets considerably more fucked up before I blow 20$ on spray cans
+ if the paint lasts and I put a 500$ turbo kit on it, push a good 250 horse + in a 2000# sedan, theres going to be a lot of upset heterosexuals looking at my taillights
