NEVER buy a Techedge DIY kit (homicidal rant)
So, I finished putting together my 2a0, rev. 3. I assumed since I did a 1.5 before, one should be no problem. Wrong. He had a bad batch of PCB's go out, that there were shorts in the tracks everywhere. Guess who got one? yeah...now the aussie ass clown won't return my E-Mails, or forwards me to "the correct dept." when i call and suddenly i get disconnected. International calls are ------- expensive! Damn Piece of ----....I spent $250 on this damn paperweight, and it doesn't work because he sold me a bad circuit board. His excuse on the issue? "it's tax time, and things are hectic" >:(

Re:NEVER buy a Techedge DIY kit (homicidal rant)
dont sweat it. resolder it!
|
Re:NEVER buy a Techedge DIY kit (homicidal rant)
can't. the actual traces on the PCB themselves are shorted. I'm at the point where i might take an exacto knife and Completely cut the shorted tracks, and use a piece of wire to replace it. >:(

Re:NEVER buy a Techedge DIY kit (homicidal rant)
jumper the shorted part

There's a fuckload of these little shorts. Gotta go through the board with a magnifying glass and slice all these shorts... |
Re:NEVER buy a Techedge DIY kit (homicidal rant)
if you paid with a credit card (which i assume you did) just dispute the charges and email the fucker letting him know that the cc company is gonna take his money away!
that's worked for me in the past for whatever |
Re:NEVER buy a Techedge DIY kit (homicidal rant)
I screwed up my tech edge 2.0a, it was my fault. I contacted the guy and he responded... it was very slow. The repair bill was only 20$ including shipping. I read on the tech edge yahoo forum that its tax time and hes behind. So give him a try on the board. He seems like a good guy once your able to get ahold of him.

I've bought and built about 1/2 dozen kits. Never had a problem. Peter has always been a really easy guy to deal with.

yah, just jumper them. aint that hard. its like a 20 minute job if you know how to do it.or if there isnt allor of components, just get a new board.

Re:NEVER buy a Techedge DIY kit (homicidal rant)
whoa...where'd this come from? anyway, i got it back. Cost me shipping, and $50 because the PCB they sent me was bad. I guess I don't understand why I had to pay $50 since the bad board was their fault, but whatever. Took a month round trip to get back.

Re:NEVER buy a Techedge DIY kit (homicidal rant)
yeah, i know of someone else that bought one and it didn't work properly, and this person is an electronics guru, so there was no fault on his part as far as putting it together :-\

Re:NEVER buy a Techedge DIY kit (homicidal rant)
I love my kit, it was worth it in my opinion. my car drives 200% better with it tuned via tech edge.
