1. OP posted about burning a movie file, alch will only do image files, not encode a video file for burning to DVD - alchy useless
2. SikCRX wants to open daa, last few versions of Alch I've used don't open them, only poweriso - alchy useless

Original nero was much better but it's not that bad. I don't know if they ever fixed their encoding but I know in the past version they pissed me off because there was a bug with 2-pass encoding where it wouldn't properly make it fit to the size you chose. Spent a ------- day re-encoding an hd file to fit on a dvd and then it didn't fit.

Even if he is burning a direct copy, doubt alcohol will help because I really don't think he has a dual layer dvd-rw and I'm sure the commercial disc is dual layer.

DVDShrink handles most dvd-copying, and whatever it won't copy (lionsgate shiz) just use ripit4me.

im completely new to burning dvds so i searched on here for burning dvd and somebody said to use nero. so i tried it. didnt work too good. So can someone lay out a easy to use efficient program for burning dvds that a retard can use? yeah my comp is overheating, a guy at a computer store told me it was cuz i smoke, and the fumes or something get stuck to the copper cooling bands or some ---- and make it harder to cool down. I do know it didn't do this at all when it was new, but i smoke around my laptop alot. so i don't know what to do about that..... any ideas? and i am not sure if i have a dual layer dvd burner or not, and i don't know how to check the specs on my comp, but i know the model number and all that if someone has the time or knowlegeablities to look it up. Gateway m1617 laptop. Bought it at the end of last year i think.

dvd shrink rips it directly to iso if you use the correct settings.
then just pop in the disc, and double click the iso file. whatever program you use will burn it.

yes, tar and soot will build up on the inside of your computer. but i dont think so. i think one of the cooling fans took a ---- on ya.

How do i check to see if a cooling fan quit? and would a bottle of compressed air (or my air compressor lol) work to clean off that stuff? I was told to just point it into the air intake vent and spray it in there. Should clear it up.

I've had an aftermarket cooler practically clogged with dust, on an overclocked cpu, and ran fine.

If you can, take the casing off, and give it a good warshing with the air. I don't really thing smoking by it will build up enough tar to cause cooling problems...my computer has as much nicotine go through it as I do and has never had a problem.

Take the casing off, blow out all the dust, turn it on with casing off, make sure fans are running. If it's under warranty I would just take it straight to the manufacturer though, you might void it taking it apart.

Yeah brand new, still under warranty by geek squad. If it doesn't stop doing it after i spray it out, im taking it back.

Well i took my air wand and air compressor to it, and when i sprayed it, it shot out a lot of orange colored dust at me. now it runs quiter, and isn't heating up so bad. Im gunna try using nero to burn a dvd now.
