need your opinion

o.k. guys, i need your opinion on something. i have my cca intercooler and stealth mani just sitting there collecting dust, my plans were to get a remanufactured or brand new t3/t4 (haven't quite decides on specs yet), an smt 6 and 450's for fuel, stealth oil lines, 38 mm tial, prolly just a dsm bov, and some nice mandrels. well, if you add all that up, minus what i already have, i'm looking at about another thousand in parts, well, this isn't really a problem, but it will take me easily a few months before i can get all of these parts together. my other option is to buy an fmu (actually, i already bought the fmu because it was hella cheap), a .42/.48 on ebay or here would be around 100 bucks, stealth's lines, cheapest bov i can find, and what ever i can scrounge up for charge piping (radiator hose, crush bend, etc.). well, i boutght the fmu for 50 shipped, so i'm just looking at another 250 at the most to get boosted, i could do this in a month, then i could upgrade with some better fuel management, then a nicer turbo, etc. as the money comes and still sell the old stuff at not much of a loss, or should i just wait and do it right the first time? i just can't wait anymore, i've been a member here for almost a year and have had 1 complete kit, 1 kit that was just lacking a turbo and oil lines, and this is my 3rd kit that i'll be putting together, and i still haven't been boosted. the only reason i even ask is because this is for my mint 00 si and i really don't want ghetto ---- under the hood, but it may have to do for a while, at least i'll have a nice ic in the front (the only thing people will really be seeing besides my tail lights ;D)

Do it but don't up the boost too high until you get some good fuel management. Ghetto fab all the way!

dont buy a used turbo on ebay! youll regret it. take your time and do it right the first time. you can still do it right and cheap. you can save some dough by using an internal wastegate for a while instead of the esxternal. im selling a dsm bov if you interested.

one thing that happened to me was you might have to re-tap the oil in a better location to suite the new turbo. they are all different and faced in diff. ways. my greddy turbo was on then i got rid of it for a T3 and i had to move the oil tap location like 4-5 inches to the side or i would smoke like a bia! piping might be a little different also...i would say just save and go all out! you'll be happy with all those new parts!

i agree, dont buy a used turbo off ebay, if they say no shaft play, that means it has some, If they say it has minmal shaft play It mean the ------- thing is toast. Id wait if i were you and get all the right parts, but this is homemade turbo so do it cheap and ghetto for the time being if ya want

50 is a stupid price for an fmu, you can build your own half assed afc for under $10 in radioshack parts to use with your 450s.

I say wait, but that's because I won't have turbo for awhile and I don't want you making fun of my bov for too long.
