need your advice
this is my stock b16 crank pulley, a while ago I could not get it off so I banged on it with a hammer to get it loose, and chipped a piece out of the ps groove, will this affect anything as far as balancing? or would it balance out itself? the only other option I have is a aluminum pulley

Re: need your advice
you should see the one on my homo ls/vtec im running right now, its 400 times worse, and i dont think it matters much.

Re: need your advice
It does matter a VERY lot, hotrex doesnt know ---- about engine harmonics or anything about engines. I'd try and find another pully before running either. Worst comes to worst i'd chip the other side to make it "more" even.

Re: need your advice
josh i just really dont care. lemme go take a pic of mine. haha youll ---- yourself.

Re: need your advice
Well i've seen/driven many cars that had fucked up pulleys. I dont think the balancing in the stock pulley is the metal itself but that plastic ---- inside of it. But if would prefer not to risk listening to some idiot on the internet, i would just find a new one.

Re: need your advice
I've been trying to find one, I bought 2 off ebay 2 months ago and they still aint here yet, I am currently running the one that came with the b18a1 that has the v type ps groove, so I have no ps, and when I drive the car without the ps pump hooked up it spills ps fluid all over the place. if I dont get the ones I ordered by friday I will use either this one or the underdrive one, because I will autobahn tune my car friday night.

And yes that is not a good idea to run it like that. Would you run a flywheel with a huge chunk missin out of it. Same idea. 9000 rpm's and counterweight off balance isnt to nice to oil pumps, bearings |

Re: need your advice
Take it to a machine shop and get that one belt groove taken off. Lighter and who need P/S or A/C

Re: need your advice
the thing I need power steering thats the only reason why the pulley is important right now, the ls pully dont allow my to have ps, thats why need a b16 pulley, the ls uses a v belt the b16 uses a ribbed belt. chris if I donrt get the ones I ordered by next week I will get yours,
what if I weld that piece back in and grind it down? |
Re: need your advice
Find an LS power steering pump that matched the belt you need, maybe you'll have luck that way. Or just find the pulley for one......It must be easier to find the other pump somewhere....

Re: need your advice
I got the pump it dont work with my civic lines, ------- wierd, it feel really bad driving without the ps hooked up. plus it spilling fluid all over my engine bay, and Germans are really wierd on oil spills, I will get charged for it, dont know why its over flowing with the belt disconnected

Re: need your advice
Not worth running a fucked up one like that, like someone said earlier, engine harmonics are important. I've got a OBD1 V-belt B16 pully in my garage, no dings or anything. PM me if you want it, I can have it sent out to you Friday.
