need to tow/dolly a car... options?
 

First off I don't want to pay a tow company, those assholes impound my cars. And I don't feel like being daredevilish and pulling the car with the Honda.

Okay so I need to tow a car from a few cities over [~25 miles], what are some towing options? Or rather, what are some rental places that rent pickup trucks with a tow hitch [need to hitch a car dolly/trailer to it]? And more importantly, reasonably priced.

I went to uHaul.com and it doesn't specify whether or not the pickups have a hitch [won't be able to go til tomorrow to look, but I want to know now and I also need it for tomorrow morning so I would like to be prepared].

I went and bought a tow bar for $129 and hooked it to my friends pickup. I am looking into the detachable lites today.

I rented a truck recently from U-haul it was a 10' truck with a tow hitch. It was 19.99 to rent it and .79 a mile. I searched around and it looked like they had the cheapest rates for rental trucks that's my .02

I don't think Uhaul pickups have tow hitches. I inquired about towing a car a while back and they suggested I rent their smallest box truck and a two-wheel trailer. Wasn't that badly priced, but I ended up not buying the car.

Find a friend with a truck and rent a tow dolly from uHaul

You could also throw something up on craigslist and find someone that would tow it for like $50 or something.

Yo man, i work for a tow company...if you got AAA basic, then you can tow the car for first 3 miles free, then $3/mile...if you got AAA +, then you got 100 free miles. This is if your car is registered. See if you got any friends who have AAA and have them call it in, and be there with you when they load the car. If your car's not registered, do it up with a Penske or Uhaul car hauler. :8

Do not get the two-wheel trailer, get the one with 4 wheels. The two-wheel trailer moves around a LOT the hole time your driving it is moving no matter what you do, also it is a super pain in the ass to reverse. The 4 wheel trailer is a bit more, it is longer, but in every way it is better.

a buddy with a tow dolley and truck is the cheapest your gonna get. the tow truck might becheaper than renting a truck and dolly

almost did this but with the full car trailer [50 bucks] and $20 for the truck and .99 per mile.

But instead I lucked out and my homie was able to come through with his truck. Rented the $50.oo trailer [came out to 54ish], I just gave him $40.oo on top [offered to fill up his gas tank, but we worked out something with an HID kit].

sad thing is I'd rather pay to money grubbing uHaul than a tow company. Plus towing is like 3-8 bucks a mile or something? Fawk that!
