Okay, after reading it. Have you checked the obvious stuff like air filter/fuel filter etc? And what do the plugs look like, that'll be your indicator.

no real need to carbs, just get a real wideband gauge first to make sure it is running rich.

this should explain narrowband vs wideband better

as you can see the wideband reads a much broader range of AF ratios vs the stock sensor

the stock sensors "rich" could mean anything from 10:1-14:1

if its "rich" at 12:1 thats a decent AFR, but if its rich at 14:1 you will need new apex seals soon, with a wideband you will be able to tell how rich or lean it is much more accurately
