Default Need some computer GEEK info

I peronaly dont have any popup problems on my computer. I dont have any internet security or pop up blocker on my computer. But my parents have such a problem with popups and such they cant even check the weather. What is a good program to use? I am on road runner and i have a gateway router. They have DSL ane no router. Could this be the problem? What is the best thing i can do to help get rid of there pop ups.. they arnt very smart about computers so nortons will be hard for them to configure.... Any one have any ideas?

Ad Aware impresses me a lot. It's free and works really well. I also used Search And Destroy (Can't remember the whole name), that worked all right, but myself support Ad Aware.

I was a skeptic about anti-virus software until recently. IMO the free ---- that is out there (ad-aware etc.) works well, but if your parents aren't computer savvy will be MORE DIFFICULT to operate/install, because 1. you have to download it from some random site, 2. you have to select which files to delete/quarantine etc. Norton or McAfee both work well. I have Norton at work and McAfee at home. Not only do they scan for adware but viruses and trojans also (which the free ones don't). They are more automated and require less know-how than you think. They have my vote.
