Default Need sleeper brainstorming

Want your advice.
Winterīs coming up,and i build a sleeper for the local streetraces and what have you from time to time.
The merc setup has been successful,but the 190 chassis has been kinda done now.
So..
Merc ainīt all that common around the streetraces around here and..i came to giving some thought to using the old SL/SLC chassis from the mid 70s up until early 80s.
Toss the heavy *** engine and box outta there and install the turboed 16vlv and box.
Done the "right" way-without going completely insane(ie;keep it 100%usable for every day use still) i imagine i could bring car total weight down to 2400lbs maybe.
This way itīd still be all mercedes-not that it really matters all that much-but none the less.
Important issues here is that i donīt want a project like this to go overboard.
Ie;keep it sane and keep it real i guess.

Would that be an idea to realize ya think?

Thoughts or other ideas?

Do you not have the ability to think for youself? If you think it will work so much then go for it, but if you want to continue asking stupid questions and stating the obvious then your on the right track.

Sounds good, what would you do with your current car? 2400 lbs would be plenty light enough, and if you're going to simply swap parts over it doesnt sound "overboard" to me but a fun winter project.

wooWOO!!! soooooooooooooooooped up benz, I likey

You should get an R129 chassis, they are fairly cheap for the older ones (89-early 90's) that there would be some sick ----.

Are you doing a different car cause your starting to get a rep? if so it may be best to switch to a different brand of cars, if they see you in another mercedes and wanting to race they'll probually assume something is up

I hear ya on the idea of swaping car make,but the point as far as i can see is that the news will be out soon enough anyways-no matter what you chose really.
129s are to heavy.Canīt see gettin one of those to anywhere near 2400lbs.

190 series that i run now is light and thereīs at least SOME speedparts for it.
The 107 model(old SL/SLC iīm thinking of)..no idea whatīs available.

R129's = around 4000+ lbs

107's = around 34-3600 lbs

190's = around 27-3000 lbs

Yup,but most of the weight of the 107s is the engine/box assy.
From there i figured that i could go old school style to reach a more mundane weight?
