Need the HMT computer gurus
Let's say I am trying to use a computer to get on aim . I can't DL aim because they blocked aim.com with the internet explorer bullshit thing. Same applys for using myspace. I know microshit is ---- and there has got to be an easy way around this. Verbally abuse me if you must but someone tell me what to do .

IF you can get to google then you may be able to try a proxy that will allow you to bypass the firewall.
Heres a list of proxy's
http://tools.rosinstrument.com/proxy/
and heres how to set one up.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/135982
Now if you are in an office environment or soemthing I would be wiling to bet you got restrictions as to what you can do. In other words Ososlo is right you will need admin rights. but hey try it and see.

Re: Need the HMT computer gurus
Way way long ago when I was in high school and they had it blocked I went to Start > Run > Command and typed in ftp.aim.com and was able to download it from there if you can figure DOS out (and if AIM still has the files on an FTP).
You can also take the route jon said and just use a flash drive. I've used computers at jobs before that wouldn't let you use usb devices (it would ask for administrator password). But that still wouldn't stop you from using a CD or other media. Even then, they could have installations disabled.
In that case, I'd either try to find a 3rd party standalone aim client that doesn't require installation, or I'd try installing aim to a flash drive (assuming it works) and if you're lucky it might run. If it doesn't run, it should at least tell you what files it requires from the computer you originally installed it on.
