need help with salvaging car.....

so i go into a local scrap yard looking for turbos. found 2. found something else that is perfect.....89-91 civic si. beautiful black paint. no rust. little bit of clear coat pealing on roof. no chassis damage. clean interior and even under the car is scratchless. bone freakin stock. needs a motor. ask the guy how much he says....i cant sell it. i cant get the papers. it can only be scrapped. every month he sends those cars to get crushed. which is in two weeks. this is the exact year model im looking for. is there a chance in hell that i can save this GREAT condition car from turning into an oven or whatever.

I would suggest contacting your local license/title burea to see what can be done to get legit paperwork for it. I am sure there are different laws in different states.

Re: need help with salvaging car.....

i hope so. cause my car is bein a jew and im tired of it....

i talked to a buddy of mine about it and he said that sometimes they cant actually sell a car outright. whether it because its repo'ed or insurance or deserted. said that its law to not be able to be a street worthy car.

hell, if they dont want me to drive it on the street. fine. for a couple hundred bucks youve goat a damn good track car

if the guy is scrapping it anyway, show up with a couple hundred bucks cash and tell him you want to use it for a race car. I'm pretty sure he won't give a ---- about papers if his wallet is fatter. You won't be able to register it at all, but you could use it as a race car that you could sneak out on the road sometimes. or you could just use it for a parts car if you find another one thats in worse condition

That IS too bad. Thats a nice style. If it was me I would get that shell as a "track car" then get some rot box thats legit and swap the VIN plates.

Re: need help with salvaging car.....

thought about it. but i asked him about doing that. said it would never hit the streets. he said nope. he wont chance it. btw. those two dents are the ONLY body parts that need work.

btw. ive got the VIN if theres someone who can run it or a free way for me to. i have damn near no cash

Re: need help with salvaging car.....

I have the door VIN tag (wish I grabbed the dash one) from my 89 hatch that got totalled. I kept it for memories but if it can be used to help bring to life another 4g all the better. The title was never under the insurance companies name so it is still clean... and the wrecker that picked up the stripped down car never took the title paper so it might be all clear. Perhaps you could use it? I am located in NJ... I am sure you could run a carfax on the VIN to check if its still good.

It's because it is. Probably 87 si at the newest, if it is an Si. Don't even bother wasting your time on that pos.
