Something is wrong with my car. Driving home from work from a stop light I went and on second gear I "gunned" it, then all of a sudden it felt like I hit the rev limiter but my tach didnt even get that high and the shift light didnt turn on! So I let off, after the turn, I "gunned" it again, I can hear the turbo spooling (albeit very weakly) but no boost.

As soon as I parked in my garage, I checked to see if one of my couplings fell off or came loose, but nothing. everything is intact. Dont know whats wrong with it right now hoping somebody can help me diagnose the problem.

cliff notes:
1) From a stop gassed it on second gear
2) Car felt like it hit rev limiter but I didnt even get it up that high
3) Turbo spools but sound weak car NO BOOST!
4) Checked for loose couplings, clamps or what not! Nothing.
5) Vince is very puzzled! and needs help!

 

check all vaccum lines and wastegate? thats where id look first... but who knows.

what RPM did it feel like it hit a rev limit? if its 3k ish it is in limp mode

check the manifold

 

it felt like it hit at around 4500! it was very low in the RPM range when it hit that wall! It was spooling up fine and it was pushing me back to my seat then BAM! felt like somebody hit the brakes on me.

I double checked everything and all is connected and seems fine, I cant really check the manifold for cracks since its wrapped in thermowrap.

yes i have an autometer tach with shift light and it "felt" like the car hit the revlimiter. But, i would know if it did cuz of my shiftlight.

 

So have we drove the car after this? is the problem still their?

 

Yes drove the car earlier today still the same, I can hear the turbo spooling but no boost

it idles good, no vacuum leaks, no Check Engine Light, no smoke.
