Need help finding a timed switch

I'm building something and am looking for a very small and simple 1 minute timed electric switch.

I want to hook up a battery to this switch, be able to arm it and have the motor I'm powering not receive any current until ~1 minute later. I'm willing to build one if I can get it small enough. Most of the 555 switches I've seen have been fairly bulky. When I say small I mean around the size of a 9v or so.

Thanks

do you want this thing reliable and reusable, or quick cheap dirty wilth ---- you can find around the house and use only once? There are some cool ---- you can do with digikey parts, but someone else can get that circuit. I'm picturing a small quartz watch with a second hand. put 2 contacts that the 2nd hand will swing around and hit thus connecting them. put some non conductive material on one side of the 2nd hand and roll it backwards to the contacts. it will be roughly one minute away from swinging all the way around and hitting the contact again (with the conductive side) after you drop a battery in.

---- didn't you learn anything from mcgyver?

What you are looking for is a "One Shot" that last about a minute. Found some good ideas here - http://groups.google.sc/group/sci.el...542df35ce5eca4

Thanks Craig. I'll probably just build a 555 timer like they suggested.

Jago is already dead.
