need help with car stereo

Ive decided I need a better system in my car even though I am old and suck at life lol only to relize I spent my younger years under a hood and I dont know ---- about car audio. I am going to keep the factory head unit and just need to get a decent amp with high input to power my alpine type r's I've had sitting in the garage for the last two years... do they still make amps with high input?

found this on egay for 110 shipped, is this good... I remember memphes audio used to be a pro brand, deal sounds too good to be true do I have them mixed up with somebody else?

first off i am gonna assume you have two 12 inch type r's each with 1200 watts. The amp you are looking at is only 400 total watts of power split between 4 channels. So each sub of yours will only be getting 100 watts of power and will not produce the amount of power needed to push those subs to their potential.

dude, your math sucks.......

200 watts per bridged pair of channels, not 100.

Yeah......I signed up on another board.....job offers I walked away from over ten years ago are still there.......

I really don't wanna get back into Car Audio......but the money would be good.

I've forgotten so much I'd be a newbie all over again.......

yes the subs are 12", I dont have the box any more so I'm not sure what the RMS wattage is.. These are a little old and I'm not sure if they have the same wattage as the new models, what amp would you guys suggest.. The only requirement is that it has to have a high input because I dont feel like switching the deck (fancy buttons on the steering wheel) and already got an ipod hookup and i dont want to buy a high to RCA converter. I'm not trying to win any competitions just need a little more base thought 400rms would be good enough

your looking for line level inputs..........

which will be a crappy signal, 200 watts a sub will be plenty, the box you put them in will matter more.
