I got a 95 vw golf as a winter beater while my civic is away for winter.here is the problem I went out to start it this morning and the steering wheel is locked i tried moving it and everything but nothing so the key will not turn to start it.Any ideas would be appreciated

 

you have to hold the steering wheel to one side and turn the key. the steering lock just has pressure on it not allowing the key to turn. happens all the time

 

i have tried it isnt working for me i dont know whats up

 

Nothing's wrong, that's what those are supposed to do.

 

its fixed what happened was there was a chunk of ice stuck in the inside of the rim and wedge agaisnt the spring which want allowing me to turn the wheels the lil bit they needed

 

sounds like your wernt strong enough to turn the wheel, next time get your little sister to give you a hand. You could hold her purse while she giggles it for you.
