Need to erase a lot of hard drives at once. *COMPUTER TECH HELP!* + LESBIANS!!!!

ok... so for a background I've been working with a charity for breast cancer lately.

people donate old electronics to them and then the electronics usually were sold for scrap metal.

I take the good working electronics, sell them, take a cut, and still make the charity more than they would without me. (win win)

I've been dealing with a bunch of computers lately but I have to sell them all without hard drives or have the drives erased (to protect privacy bla bla bla)

To erase a drive you have to boot the computer on a erase program which basically goes through the drives and nukes all the info on the drive.

This isn't that bad but it takes a while (8 ish hours) and I have a lot of hard drives to do. A lot.

What I'm wondering to all you computer techs is if you know a way to set up something to erase more than one drive at once? I'm not sure exactly how I'd do it, i just want something better than one drive at a time.

and no, I can't just blow away the partition on the drive, it needs to be fully erased up to department of defense standards.

You want to wipe these drives, not erase them.

Formatting will not suffice, data can still be recovered.

I haven't done this but I'd imagine that if you have the cables you could hook up a raid setup on one computer and have it do a batch wipe with the right program.

Not that you should do this, but isnt it true if you format the same drive 3-4 times thats about the same as a batch wipe if its not available?

That hammer would work way better than the magnets. I forgot where I read it, but magnets won't really do a good job, maybe one more powerful than you have but I don't know.

I'm assuming they're old drives. You're gonna just have to suck it up and let them delete, you can really speed it up unless you have a lot of computers erasing drives at once.

Try selling porn for charity.

If I wanted to break them i would just throw them on the ground. I'm trying to resell them.

I was thinking about a raid setup but i don't know how well it would work with this program i have.

There is a specific program I have to use, so there isn't any shortcuts to formatting that I can see

overwrite all the data with fresh friendly stuff.

What about sending in a 160GB HD for warranty with KNOWN questionable material on it?

LS Magazines for example.

Yep, call it a loss.

just broke the 1 TB barrier, thanks to Newegg and Seagate. 900GB external, a 400 and 500 unit.
