so the other day i tried logging into my laptop and it says that my pw is not correct, now i've been using the same pw for years..how can i unlock it now? and no it is not stolen...

 

Boot into safe mode.

You can also boot into dos and delete the *.pwl files, but I haven't done that since win98 so not sure if it still works.

There is also free software you can find to retrieve, delete, or change the password.
