My shitty 1/4 mile time!
man!!! urgh! i went to the local drag strip this weekend hoping to clock at least a low 14 sec pass. well i threw my two falken azenis in the front to get some better traction but that didnt work! my best time was a 15.9 at 94mph! i was ------- sliding though first and second like you wouldnt beleive!!! seriously, it was pathetic how much traction i got!! i couldnt hook up for ----!! i'm ------- mad!!! i need some ------- slicks man!!!!!! i was hitting the limiter, let off the gas, and still spinning and bouncing to redline! i'm disappointed! i know my car can clock a low 14 or high 13 for being in a high elevated area on stock motor! i raced an srt-4 with a stage 1 upgrade the other day, he said his best times where between a 14.4-13.9 in the 1/4. he got me off the launch cuz i was just ------- spinning but then i ------- pulled hard on him up top! i know i can get better times! on the street i ---- up srt's, new gt mustangs, gst's, gti's and all those other decent cars. wtf? i just needed to release some steam! anyone got slicks for sale!?!?? :-\

Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!

Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!
Good thing about my rex.. for some reason I don't build boost through first gear so I launch without loosing any traction and when I hit second, it just flies (tire spin up to redline), but it shoots like a mug, and I'm running exactly 100mph in the 1/4 mile on street tires.... this was a 14.1 but I KNOW 100mph is good for high to even mid 13's.
I'm a little easy on it now because my motor mounts are turning to jelly :) |
Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!
you guys really help :-* i know with 94mph i should be at least running low 14's or so but i just couldnt beleive i couldnt get traction with the azenis at like 17psi of air! i was even launching at like 2500-3000 but then boost would hit and it was over! dont get me wrong...i love my turbo crx and i just ------- pulls at 9psi with a T3 but i didnt know i would have this bad of tractions problems especially at the track! i dunno but i'm on the lookout for some slicks! any good places to buy for cheap?
|
Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!
renr, where are those slicks 88turbocrx is selling? i cant seem to find them?
|
Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!
Mabey a nice homemade dual stage boost controler liks 6psi in first and second and then 9psi after that. the azenis should grip well at 17 psi. slicks would be good but i deffently would want a better time on street tires if its a daily driver.

Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!
yeah i know, next week i might go try again :-X and see what happens. i'll try heating the tires up more and launching different. it is my daily driver but on the street i really dont race too often and usually i dont like to launch much since i do spin regardless... but on the roll...its on! ;)

Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!
i have a 91 crx si so i dont think they make or have lsd tranny's for my ride. i wish they did though! any other ideas?!?
|
Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!
They do have...them
Bmabooseven was selling some cheap for about $600 |
Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!
do they bolt up directly? so they DO make lsd tranny's for the D16a6 motor? 88-91's? where can i find these at? they are cable right?
|
Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!
pm bamboo and see if he can still get them for cheap.
do they still only race on sunday nights? it sucks for me because I can't get home from the races until 12-1 and I have to be at school at 9 on mondays. |
Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!
azenis wouldnt be my first choice for drag tires... they stick like glue on a road track due to the stiff ass sidewalls.... but as a result of the stiff sidewwalls lowering air pressure doesnt have much of an effect on the contact patch.. ie bad drag tires

Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!
well, i guess so. i didnt think they would slide that bad! kyle, they do still race on sundays at one spot here but the track to clock times in more out in the desert and is in the daytime..
|
Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!
You didn't say it, but I know you did it. DON'T GO THROUGH THE WATER BOX. It won't do you any good on street tires. ;)
|
Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!
only having 17 psi probably hurt you too :-X

Re:My shitty 1/4 mile time!
why would 17psi of air hurt? you're suppose to drop the air pressure a bit to help get traction...?!? is that too little? and i think i did go through the water box but you dont really have a choice...then i did a burnout to warm up the tires but that didnt help.. :-\
