My official Jeep Comanche Project Thread (updated 56k nono)

Welp I bought it. I know its a beater but it runs good and only cost me $300.

The truck:

89 Eliminator 2wd
Shortbox
Bucket Seats
4.0L
5-speed

https://www.homemadeturbo.com/jbliss/jeep.jpg

The plans:

Sell Turbo Civic, buy $2000 All-trac turbo Celica, and spend rest of money on this

Fiberglass fenders and flared to match bedsides
33" BFG's
Custom Tube Bumpers and sidebars
Automatic Cherokee Rear End (takes care of gearing)
New Trac Bar (can you say wobble wobble?)
Tune up and clean up of engine bay
Custom Homemade Turbo Kit
Throw away ugly ass canopy

Gonna be a fun toy once I am all done.

4.0 FI is a great motor. You are right about the 2WD to 4WD swap being a snap. I did one on a Cherokee. I took the front end and trans out of a junkyard Cherokee for $300 and put them in the 2WD I had and doubled its resale value. The center console is even the same for the transfer case shifter, just took out a piece of trim. I have always wondered what the 4.0 would do turbo. The manafold is going to be a bitch. The intake and exhaust are held down with the same bolts. I love anything different. Keep up the good work.

my plan is to actually use the stock header.

factory jeep exhaust routes down under the oil pan to the passenger side, so I will follow that route and bring the turbo up to the passenger side of the engine and mount it there. This also works out kinda nicely cause it keeps that hot ass turbo away from the intake manifold.

hope you dont plan on using a stock exhaust manifold because they are peices of ----, they always crack. Its like the ssautochrome of factory manis. We use to be a jeep dealership so I've done plenty of them.

no and no.

probably going to be going with something more like megasquirt, and some sort of front mount in front of the radiator, or possibly an AWIC.

Are you sure it's the track bar? I've hit some corners pretty hard in leaf sprung trucks, with no track bars, and it's not that bad. Hell most pre runners don't use track bars. ---- fender flares! Take a sawzall to that bitch and be done with it. I mean look at your buddies truck.

the front of a cherokee/comanche is not leaf sprung, they are coil springs and 4 control arms. Yes I am sure its the trac bar.

As for my brother in law's comanche, his is great for what he does with it, I have my own tastes as far as what I want to do, and my truck also isn't 4 wheel drive.

Here are the fenders for the front. I am going to have to find a bodywork guru to match the bedsides.

Why don't you just either pull the bedsides, or hack off the offending areas.
