My New Toy

Just picked this up from a buddy of mine for $40. Its already registered in my name and it checked out. So no its not stolen. He just needed money :P

Its a Mosin-Nagant 7.62x54mmR >:D
5 round clip
it has the bayonet and sling.

This is just a picture I found on teh intranet but its pretty close minus the sling.
BTW its hard as ---- to find ammo for this thing. I ordered some and its gonna take about 2 weeks to get it :l

Re: My New Toy

Damn thats sexy, I have an AK and an SKS but I really would like a nagant.
Are you gonna hunt with that beast?

JoshMO 12-04-2007 09:59 AM

Re: My New Toy

I may hunt with it. Right now I'm just eager to see what kind of destruction it will do. And I wanna see what kind of bruise I'm gonna be looking at lol.
I've heard a FMJ will go straight through some thick ass oak trees >:D

Re: My New Toy

I never shot anything using a 7.62x54 but seeing what a 39 does I can only imagine.

With AKs and SKSs I know you can put hundreds of rounds with practically no discomfort but i'm sure a 100 rounds with the nagant will be a different story in the morning

Re: My New Toy

7.62 is rare ? where the ---- do you live ? cali ? lol

i had one a long time ago. sks is a lot more fun tho, but nowhere near as powerful.

Re: My New Toy

i have an old school m44 shoot 7.62 rounds. pretty fun. hurts like a mothwrfucker if you can the large grain rounds. got a lot of old school black powder rounds left fo it, but hey make the barrel rust too easy.

I never said it was rare. I did say its hard to find. I've checked all my local stores with no luck.

Re: My New Toy

damn i was drunk earlier. that post barely makes sense. but the m44 i was talking about is an awesome gun. 7.62 is a strong round and around here there pretty easy to find, but kinda expensive.

JoshMO 12-04-2007 01:13 PM

Re: My New Toy

Yeah its crazy expensive its $20 for 20 rounds :S

one2many 12-04-2007 01:23 PM

Re: My New Toy

iv got 3 of them, a really nice Izhevsk m44(carbine like you have) and 2 Izhevsk 91/30(full size). they are awesome guns and are cheap to get. there is a place here in madison that you can get them for $60 and they let you pick through them to find the good ones.

Re: My New Toy

wow nowhere near that expensive, there like 6 bucks a 20 pack here. my only problem is the bayonet needs to be loosened or something, that ting is hard as hell to open.

yeah all the surplus ammo seems to have dried up, im still sitting on a sardine can of 54R (660rds) that i got from sportsmans guide like 2 years ago, it was only like 140 i think (4.7 cents per round)

matalac 12-04-2007 07:43 PM

Re: My New Toy

7.62 ammo is too expensive. Too expensive enough for me not to be able to afford shooting an m14/m1a or FAL.

:-[ :-[ :-[ :-[

which I want...

Re: My New Toy

Those rifles are great...and affordble.....the bass pro shop near me has those rifles for 150 new......ammo aint that damn expensive.....get russian stockpile 7.62.......ammo cans full of rounds for around 50......cheaper than dirt.com is a good place as well

J-SMITH69 12-04-2007 09:05 PM

Re: My New Toy

the gun he posted is not a 7.62x39mm (aka/sks) round.

its 7.62x54mm which is a commie version of a .308 which is an expensive round to buy.

your best bet is to find a online ammo dealer and buy in bulk 1-2k rounds.

going to the store and buying a box of 20 will cost you prob 14-20 dollars

and those rifles are peices of ---- lol....

my penis is bigger than your penis
top one is the mosin, circa 1932, bottom is a spanish FR8, training carbine like the m14 they used in boot, .308 round, both are stump pounders >:D

i scored 260 rounds of 7.62x54r, 147 grain NATO fmj rounds for about $5 a box years ago.

if i can, ill find a way to send you a box. keep the grain LOW, higher grain wasn't designed for the gun.
