My new best AND with a stock block

4 Attachment(s)
It's torward the end of the racing season so I decided to buy some race gas and turn up the boost.

Last weekend at Battle Of The Imports I ran a best of 11.32 @ 130mph. It felt good. I also ran a 11.33 @ 117mph... letting off right after the 1000ft mark, because I didnt want to get disqualified for going too fast without a roll bar. The motor set-up took it well, and is still running great. The 130mph trap was with 28psi. I ran alot of 127mph traps on 26psi too. I have a stock rebuilt block consisting of 1G rods, re-used original rod bolts, 2G pistons, ARP head studs, & Mitsu 4-layer metal head gasket. It held up surprisingly well :) There were faster cars in my Class, but I got lucky... 1 car was disqualified for going too fast without a cage, one was cought sleeping at the light and got eliminated, and another missed a shift. All that along with my consistent driving allowed me to take 1st place in the Street Tuner Class, yeay:)

Re: My new best AND with a stock block

I run a FP3065 with FP2x cams, dual springs, Stock head, Stock parts Bottom end, & AEM EMS.

My 11.3x @ 117 probably would have been a 11.0-11.1, but I let off right after the 1000ft mark because I didnt want to get disqualified for not having a roll bar.

.....Mainly I just wanted to let you guys know what a good running stock internal bottom end is capable of ....people have been telling me a solid bottom end will hold, and now I know what they mean.:thumb: With sticky tires they would have easily been 10sec runs!;)

BIG THANKS TO PINA MOTORSPORTS FOR PUTTING THIS TOGETHER FOR ME!
Thanks Andre!

That's not luck. You brought a well assembled car and you know how to drive. Keep at it and you'll get a lot more results like that.

Oh you guys R funny :D Thanks
1st off most DSM are old and like any old car they needz somez lovin and care'N. 2ndly I've had alot to do it even though I've only been into DSMs a little over a year. I learn fast, but I owe alot to Andre at PinaMotorsports because he's helped me so much and I wouldnt be where I am so quicky if it wasnt for him ...thats why I let it be known that its his work. I started out knowing nothing about DSMs OR knowing a single person with a DSM. So at 1st I paid for work done to the car. I use to drag race alot, but didnt for 2 years and now I'm back ^-^(it feels so damn good too) DSMs are what I chose to build because its a easy to work on project car. I've learned alot about them real fast. I'm serious enough about my racing and my car that the shop I used to pay to do my work (Pina MotorSports) now sponsors the car. I get to use the shop to do whatever, and if I need help the car gets that too. It's a join effort. I didnt start out building the car, but since then I've damn near done and re-done everything there is to do including tons of tuning. I'm sure you guys know that a project car is never a fix and forget thing ...its always being worked on, and re-worked on;D The only thing that I havent personally touched is the bottom end of the motor, the radiator/fans, and the rear end pumpkin, because non of that stuff has needed touching yet.

I guess I posted because mainly I'm just still excited about what these stock blocks can take. I come form a N/A V8 background and this stuff puts a smile on my face. ;D

oh and DSM > Honda :6

Another main goal was to make it CLEAN! I want like old school muscel car clean where you dont see anything but motor. I know I'll never get that but I'll keep trying. When I pull the motor this winter I'll put extension on fues boxes and harnesses and hide them ...heres what it looks like so far though.

def not DSM>Honda. unless we are talking about unreliability and amount of broken parts then DSM wins hands down.

Re: My new best AND with a stock block

Guys, it may be built by "the dumbasses at Pina Motorsports," as high-profile DSMtard Koby would say, but...

1) The guy can drive
2) It's ten times faster than anything Koby will ever own
3) It's something different

If we can get this guy to post some porn I think he'll fit in somehow.

Re: My new best AND with a stock block

Thank I appreciate it guys

As far as Koby goes I don't have anything against the guy at all, but from what I heard he sure does seems to have a chip on his shoulder about Pina Motorsports ....I don't get it really cause I know he hasnt had ANYthing to do with PINA for atleast a couple years .....but whatever I dont care

The car may look simple but it's built to be a runner for sure! I'm not into rice or bling bling at all. I love sleepers! :6 This particular car is NOT your typical unreliable DSM. I think DSM's have a reputation for being unreliable because people dont take car of them like they should. I have spent alot of time and money doing sooo many little maintenance things to keep this thing running top knotch. This car has been completely reliable so far, and I have punded on it very hard all summer long. Hell thats what it's for ....I bought and built the car to pound on it :6 I had that planned from day one .....The week after I got it, the very 1st mod I ordered was a Stage4 John Shepherd Transmission haha.

Heres a MOD the list if Anyones interested:

Bolt-on Mods:
K&N 9" Filter ~ FP 4" Intake ~ FP 3065 Turbo ~ Tial 44mm Waste Gate ~ Ported EVO3 Exh Mani ~ FP 2.5" o2 housing ~ Custom 3” turbo back w/ Magnaflow ~ Cat delet ~ 4" thick Race FMIC w/ 2.5" short route piping ~ 1G BOV ~ (FUEL> 1000cc injectors ~ Re-wired Walbro 255 Fuel Pump ~ Areomotive FPR ~ (((BOLT-OFF's= Air Con, Power Steering, ABS, Rear Seats & Belts, Spare tire/jack, Rear wiper, F&R Wiper Reservoirs, Rear Carpet, All emissions crap delete, and Alternator relocated))) ~ Race Weight 3140 lbs with 1/2 tank Gas

Engine Mods:
Rebuilt 6 Bolt Block with 1G Mitsu Rods, re-used Mitsu Rod Bolts, Mitsu 2G 8:5:1 Pistons ~ B.S. Eliminated ~ Stock 1G Head w/ 3G lifters ~ Dual Springs ~ Tit-retainers ~ FP2x Cams ~ Mitsu 4 layer head gasket ~ ARP head studs ~ Poly Motor Mounts all around.

Engine Managment:
AEM EMS w/ MAP ~ AEM Boost Controller ~ Wide band O2 ~ Peak Hold Boost Gauge ~ Oil Pressure Gauge ~

Drivetrain & Suspension Mods:
Shepherd Stage 4 Trans w/ 4-spyder diff ~ PTT Drag Race 7" Twin Disk Clutch ~ 4 Bolt Rear w/ LSD ~ K-Sport Coilovers ~ bigger rear sway bar ~ Poly suspension Bushing all the way around the car. Also a 8-point roll bar is ready to go in, but we decided to do a 10pt cage, so we're gonna wait and do it all at once.

It should already be a 10sec car if I had the tires to hook-up. A nice 1.5 60ft should get me a 10.7 "IF" the stock block holds up. Either way we are building a nice motor this winter, and I look forward to hiding/cleaning up alot of the wires in the engine bay to make it all look really nice.

POrn? :6 O RLY? ;D

I have a problem with Koby. He has an incorrect opinion on most anything he opens his mouth about, lacks experience, and gets most anything technical/theoretical completely wrong. Now, post porn. :)

I met this guy in the pits and I b.s. with him for about 15 min. Guy put his dsm together realy well. But the thing is people neglect there hondas all the time and they will eventually break down. If you even THINK about neglecting your dsm, and it WILL break. You can count on theat.

Re: My new best AND with a stock block

Meh.

I shared shop space for almost two years with some hardcore DSMtards. I have much respect for 6 bolt 4G63's... in fact, I think Bad91TSI is downplaying an engine that will take some abuse and last a good long while... but everything else bolted to and around the engine has fundamental issues. Much respect for anyone who can beat one into submission, it takes a lot of work and you really have to know the chassis.
