My Intrro

Whats up guys and gals,
New to the site. Heard about it from a friend (crx2fast4u). Met a few of you already. I'm looking to soon boost my 98 z24. Also going to be swapping my friends d15b8 cx hatch with a b18b1. The bad part is that his car is currently auto and we are going to try to convert it to 5 spd :o. Neither of us know too much about hondas so we are hoping for the best ;D. Oh yea, I'm located in connecticut. P.S.- heres a small pic of my car just to give you an idea.

if the hatch is a 92+ if uses a hydraulic clutchwhich means you need to bend and make your own hard lines, i would just use a cable tranny cuz it requires less work.

Re:My Intrro

also isn't there something funny about the pass side mount.. like needing to be removed and a manual mount welded to the frame.. or could u get a hasport one to bolt all up.?

btw.. how many motors have you gone thru on the z24?

Welcome I guess :-\ Not a big fan of Cav/sunfires. I hope you guys know what your doing cause I hate when people get ---- for there cars and don't even know how to install it or the first thing about it. Okay you buy an engine but did he even do any research about how much a PITA it is to do a auto2manual swap in a hydro setup. Plus I'm pretty sure the tranny mount is completely different than the manual mount. Best of luck.

Nice looking car dude. You should hit up airtronics, he turbocharged a sunfire, and from what I remember he is going to be doing it to a 2002 cavalier soon.

Good luck with your buddy's swap too, btw ;)

Yea thanks for the replies guys. I'm probably gonna be starting my friend's swap as soon as this cold weather is done...As for my car and the motors, its weird you said that. I went through about 2 bottles on it, just a little 50 shot and then next thing you know, I heard the loudest ticking noise. I needed new rod bearings. Had someone do that since I'm up in school and about 2 hrs away from home. Came home a few weeks ago, drove the car around for about 100 miles. FINE. Next thing I know, I hear it coming back now. Not nearly as loud as before, but I'm confident its going to rise to that level. I think I'm just gonna throw in another 2.4 (used) with hopefully 50k or so. Then i'm gonna piece together a turbo kit for that.

lol my friend went thru 6 motors like that.

1. Rebuilt
2. Rebuilt
3. OEM GM Crate 2.4L
4. Rebuilt
5. Rebuilt
6. Crank snapped in 2 pieces, OEM GM Crate motor.

all warrenty. it has to do w/ holding the motor at higher RPM's and causin the oil to get sucked into the head via the pump.

after the 6th motor in his car it seemed to be fixed.. i'll ask him what they did. I think they ended up using a new 2.4l somethng about 99 and earlier having this problem.

yours all #3 rod bearing too?

Re:My Intrro

not sure which one it was. However, I'm just going to throw another motor in it (used), but I doubt it will be form a 99+. With these cars, poeple tell me the swap is the easiest if you get the same year motor as your car.

Re:My Intrro

I was checking out a GM forum, and there are some people bolting the 3400 V6 in the jbody, I'm not a fan of nose heavy small car's, but 200hp and a bunch of tourq before the boost sounds like fun. I bet a single T4 would go well with a 3.4 V6.
Oh wait, better yet go HMT style and use 2 14b's.
