isn't celebrating a birthday...simply that? nothing "spiritual" or "religious" about it in my opinion. you're simply celebrating the day your mom gave birth to ya. unless giving birth is "religious" in some way? 
oh well i'm sorry you grew up never even getting to celebrate your own birthday at the very least. that's kinda sad.
but your story was great and i'm happy you have a gf who obviously know you well enough to know that you'd appreciate her thoughtfulness.

Happy b-day and I know what you mean. My family don't do much celebration for birthdays, holidays or what nots, but friends wanna do ----, not that it's bad... just weird. I was always used to celebrating others birthdays rather than my own.

wow, reading it the way you put it i could almost imagine exactly how you felt.
I feel sorry for the rest of us who will never feel that way. poor him? no poor us. We take advantage of it, growing up, knowing on __ day of__ i'll be getting a cake and presents and have a birthday party. But for him that wasn't the case. It NEVER happened. He didn't have easter mornings looking for eggs, didn't have any of that.
But here out of no where, just another day to him this heaven sent angel brings him a simple cake and a card and it made him the happiest person on earth. Thats got to feel so great. I would trade 20 years of my life to experience what you did in that moment

Thanks to everyone for the b-days congrats and so fourth. I do know i got a great girl and she knows it to cause i let her know everyday. Just appreciate what you guys got cause somewhere someone doesn't. Always said home made turbo was like a second family. Thanks
