My tips without any cage experience: Stay calm, don't worry about it just go out there and see how you do but stay sharp. If you can not gas in the first 3 minutes you're better conditioned than 90% of amateur and low level pro fighters. Having a calm demeanor goes a lot further than running 80 miles a day as conditioning prep. For conditioning I would run sprints, lots of them. ---- long distance jogging that ---- doesn't apply here. Sprint after sprint after sprint will get your recovery up, that's how we did it in track. You're gonna get tired, the repeated sprints just make you recover faster. Being tired and gassing are kind of different things too. Gassers don't recover.

Thanks for the tips. I've been running 3-4 miles a day.. but haven't done sprints. My cardio is decent right now, from doing Jiu Jitsu.. I'm not actually looking to make anything of fighting. I've got a family n' ----. My wife is just letting me do this 1 time because I always wanted to do it. But u never know.. if I win decisively I might do another one. I went to some fights in Salem, Indiana last weekend and NOBODY had a ground game.. or really any standup worth a hoot. 90% of the fighters were a bunch of punks. I'm just going to TRY to stay calm and work my jab and kicks then look to take the fight to the ground.

when you step in that cage. remeber to learn control, breath, and take your time. I know its your first match but make sure you breath the proper way (if you trained for 7 months you know what i mean) take your time. Number one thing fighters try to do is just do everything at once and go wild and throw everything out the window what they learned in sparring. Look for the right moment and take it. Don't show off you should be fine. Win or lose its a learning experiance. Don't gas yourself out and get the feel of things (when i say control). Thats the advice I have to give you. I know you'll be a bit nervous but that will go away as soon as the fight start. ;)
